Job Description: They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Middle Market Underwriter to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on underwriting habitational risks, including but not limited to apartment buildings, condominiums, and residential complexes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of habitational risks and have a proven track record in middle-market underwriting within the insurance industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate and underwrite complex habitational risks within the middle market segment, ensuring adherence to company guidelines and risk appetite.
- Portfolio Management: Manage and monitor a portfolio of habitational accounts, maintaining a balanced and profitable book of business.
- Decision Making: Make informed underwriting decisions using data-driven insights and advanced analytics provided by our proprietary insurtech platform.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and other key stakeholders to facilitate business growth and retention.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development and refinement of underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to habitational risks.
- Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes impacting habitational underwriting and the broader insurance industry.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional designations (CPCU, ARM, etc.) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of underwriting experience in the middle market segment, with a strong emphasis on habitational risks (condos, apts, HOAs, duplexes, hospitality, nursing homes).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in underwriting software and familiarity with insurtech solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and adapt to evolving business needs.
