Overview:The ideal candidate for this position is self-motivated, self-disciplined, and able to work independently. Strong interpersonal and writing skills are critical. The candidate will perform a variety of engineering work including but not limited to, initial planning, design phases, and construction support of substation projects. Ability to manage the civil/structural aspect of substation projects with little oversight. Performs other duties as required.
Responsibilities:- Perform as structural engineering lead, responsible for execution of structural engineering scope, budget, and schedule, on a multi-discipline team of engineers executing complex engineering projects for clients in the utility, renewable, and oil & gas industries.
- Coordinate resourcing needs to meet client deadlines with management team.
- Perform structural engineering calculations and review structural engineering calculations and drawings.
- May be responsible for multiple projects simultaneously
- Prepare proposals and estimates for various projects
- Assist with project management including budgets, schedules, and client relations
- Serve as Engineer of Record for projects
Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or similar/related field, from an accredited school or University is required.
Minimum 5 years structural engineering experience in utility industry.
Registered as a Professional Engineer, PREFERRED
- Must have excellent oral / written communication skills and ability to work well in teams
- Ability to apply analytical or scientific thinking to define and solve problems and be able to execute field and office tasks
- Proficient with Risa3D, RisaFoundation, MathCad, Mat3D, SAP2000, STAAD, AutoCAD, LPile, Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
- Experience and detailed knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, ASTM, ANSI, API, IBC, OSHA, PIP etc.)
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Strong attention to details
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate
- Ability to identify and develop solutions to complex problems or seek guidance from more experienced engineers
- Must have experience leading small to medium sized Civil/Structural engineering design teams
