Bus Driver Trainer

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience & Training:
•High School Diploma, or equivalency;
•Department of Education School Bus Driver Instructor Credential;
•Three (3) years bus driver trainer experience, preferred;
•Supervisory experience, desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of Transportation Supervisor, lead the school bus driver training program for PAUSD. Investigate all accidents involving a school bus. Requisition and account for materials, supplies and equipment for transportation department needs. Maintain department records and prepare reports as requested.
Specific Duties Include:
•Plan, schedule, and conduct an overall training program;
•Plan and implement all in-service driver training;
•Assist in the interviewing, testing, and selection of bus drivers;
•Instruct bus driver applicants in safe and efficient procedures of bus operation, pupil transportation and discipline; investigate all accidents and formal complaints involving school buses;
•Make recommendations to improve driver competence and proficiency;
•Perform route and driver evaluations;
•Maintain computerized mileage, driver training and citation records;
•Operate a school bus as required;
•Provide Dispatch support and front office administrative assistance when needed;
•Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills Include the Ability to:
•Drive all district buses and meet all transportation needs of students;
•Train and evaluate the work of school bus drivers;
•Meet physical and/or mental requirements associated with tasks outlined in this position description;
•Conduct studies and prepare reports on a computer;
•Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other District employees and departments;
•Interact with parents/families and the public with tact and courtesy.
This position requires thorough knowledge of:
•Principles and methods of driver training;
