NextGen is offering high-tech internship opportunities to students with a strong desire and interest to learn about cybersecurity.

No prior work history is necessary. We are willing to train the right candidates Interns will be assigned a full-time mentor and will be embedded in team projects where possible.

Whether you're passionate about coding, system architecture, or software engineering, our mentorship program provides the support and mentorship needed to accelerate your growth and kickstart your career in the dynamic world of technology.

Cybersecurity activities may include:

  • Researching specific standards, technologies, and products
  • Reviewing newly published cyber vulnerability reports
  • Assisting in the identification and assessment of cybersecurity risks and threats to the organization's systems and data.
  • Learning about security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS controls. (replace 1)
  • Participating in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of systems and applications.
  • Assisting in the implementation and configuration of security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection.
  • Learning about security technologies such as encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.

Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship required
  • Major in computer science, engineering, MIS, or information technology
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Thorough understanding of internet research
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Job Details:

  • Remote work allowed
  • Laptop provided
  • Expected hours: ~10 per week
  • Start date: As Soon As Possible
