About the Team
AP is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion andhard work of students and educators from secondary schools and highereducation. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, APprovides willing and academically prepared high school students with theopportunity to study and learn at the college level. The AP program is rapidlyexpanding its development of instructional and assessment products with thelaunch of new AP courses and revision of current AP courses. To support thehigh-quality production of teacher- and student-facing materials for the STEMAP courses, the AP Program is looking to fill the role of Senior Director,AP Course Product Manager.
About the Opportunity
The Senior Director, AP Course Product Manager will lead end-to-end productdevelopment of assessment course supports for courses undergoing courserevision, course update, or new course launch partnering with other APProgram teams. These supports include the development and build of formativeassessment items, practice exams and student practice in alignment with thecourse framework. In addition to leading the development of assessment coursesupports, the Sr. Director, AP Course Product Manager will also developthe processes needed to oversee the course supports developed for courserevisions, monitoring and triaging roadblocks that could impact the scheduleor scope for a successful launch.
The Senior Director should have product management experience, includingdigital resource development, to help across all STEM courses as theyundergo updates under our course and exam development roadmap. This positionwill partner closely with most AP Program units, particularly Curriculum andAssessment, AP Classroom, and Access.
In this role, you will:
Course Product Development (50%)
Serve as the primary steward of the suite of assessment supports requiredfor the launch or revision of any STEM AP course. The suite of supports willbe built in collaboration with members of the Curriculum and Assessment andAccess teams and includes AP Daily instructional videos, formativeassessments, student practice and other assessment supplements to the Courseand Exam Description.
Partner with the AP Classroom development team to build course supportproducts in alignment with the digital requirements of the platform.
Facilitate the development of, review of, and finalization of all coursesupport materials created in collaboration with the content experts on theCurriculum and Assessment and Access teams.
Collect and distill feedback from external stakeholders (teachers,students, higher education) who pilot or will help develop early versionsof course resources to help establish requirements.
Provide in-depth reviews of content provided by external creators,suggesting applicable improvements related to content clarity andappropriateness for the intended audience.
Design and develop ancillary assessment supports, such as AP StudentPractice, as needed and scoped to support a particular AP course incollaboration with the Access team.
Guide recommendations for operational improvements to AP course supportofferings, including partnerships and student and teacher resources thatwill optimize successful teaching and learning.
Product Management (30%)
Oversee end-to-end implementation of requirements, developmentmilestones, and training for subject matter experts related to thedevelopment of assessment products and publications.
Provide course product subject matter expertise for use in professionallearning and teacher communication efforts in the AP ivision.
Project Management (20%)
Develop the processes and project management tools needed to oversee thecourse supports developed in alignment with the revision of an existing APcourse, coordinating collaboration with multiple partners on other APProgram teams.
Share recommendations for process and tool improvements on an ongoing basis
About You
You have:
7+ years of relevant experience, such as (but not limited to)working as a product manager, content publisher, or high school teacher
