As a Data Scientist, your essential job functions will include the following:

Manage Large Datasets
  • Dive deep into data-utilize programming tools to cleanse, validate, and ensure the quality of large structured and unstructured data sets
  • Apply transformation techniques (e.g., missing data, standardizing formats, detecting outliers, duplicate data) to move data from its raw form into clean, high-quality data tables
  • Use SQL and data APIs to interact with data stored in various systems from relational databases to file systems
  • When necessary, apply machine learning or other applicable techniques to enhance usefulness and reliability of large data sets
  • Collect and curate data needed for research, from both internal and external sources
Advanced Modeling and Analysis
  • Iteratively, efficiently, and effectively identify and execute projects that provide significant value to the organization focusing on a measurable impact.
  • Develop mathematic models that allow the organization to maximize service and minimize costs
  • Apply statistical and algorithmic methods such as supervised machine-learning, unsupervised machine-learning, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, forecasting, natural language processing, clustering, classification, survival analysis, simulations and optimizations
  • Communicate findings through clear, visual presentations that can be easily consumed by staff and executives, making complex analyses understandable to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Provide data-driven insight-draw valid conclusions and make recommendations

  • Provide trustworthy guidance, fact-checking and advice for colleagues and project sponsors
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues to foster a collaborative learning environment, contributing as an integral member of the team.
Product and Project Management
  • Serve as key contributor and developer for assigned projects and help coordinate activities of team
  • Guide the technical design of data science solutions that involve software tools and models integrated into existing systems and reporting
  • Contribute to the ideation and proposal phase for DS projects by participating in brainstorming sessions to evaluate technical feasibility.
  • Ensure project sponsors are consistently kept up to date on project status
  • Independently interface with client technical teams and business owners to establish project requirements and clearly communicate progress
  • Provide advanced-level development, testing, debugging and documentation to ensure that project outcomes are reliable.
  • Quantify impact of analyses and changes and communicate these results.
  • Produce regular reporting and analysis-ensure reporting is timely and accurate
  • Support the design and maintenance of data science tools and reporting related to data science product performance
  • Document, update, and analyze data science production processes, as assigned-Ensure processes are updated routinely, are appropriately representative and drive action within the organization
Project Proposal and Ideation
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for new data science projects, providing input based on initial data analysis and identifying potential use cases for machine learning and statistical analysis.
  • Assist in researching and presenting examples of similar projects from industry case studies that can support the ideation process.
  • Initiate discussions on potential projects by identifying opportunities for data-driven solutions that can address business challenges or improve operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and refine project ideas, creating high-level proposals for new data science initiatives.
Mentoring and Team Support
  • Ensure software development and statistical approaches adhere to best practices and quality standards through code and design reviews-Participate in solution design, development and implementation using relevant platforms
  • Assist team members with routine data analysis tasks, including data cleaning, exploration, and validation, to help alleviate workload and ensure project timelines are met.
  • Participate in team discussions, share learnings from completed projects, and support internal documentation efforts to help maintain accessible and organized project knowledge for the team

Position Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or other quantitative fields
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Ability to present complex technical material to executive audiences
  • Proficient with project management and product management skills sets
  • Works with a sense of urgency and is able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages for statistics and automation (Python)
  • Proficient in data-access languages (SQL, PostgreSQL, T-SQL)
  • Experience with Alteryx
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Proficient with version control approaches for product development (Unit testing, Git, documentation, logging, etc.)
  • Proficient in statistical modeling, supervised and unsupervised machine-learning frameworks (SciPy, Caret, sklearn)
  • Familiarity with container services is a plus (Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Familiarity with OBIEE, Salesforce or Google Analytics platforms is a plus
