Senior Fixed Asset Accountant

The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant with expertise in fixed assets will be responsible for the management of the company's fixed assets process, including timely and accurate recording of asset additions, depreciation, and disposals. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as collaboration with various teams internally and externally to ensure proper information is received prior to asset capitalization. We are looking for someone with a keen eye on detail and process optimization, who is excited to make an impact, add value, and collaborate with a team.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Manage the fixed assets accounting process; ensuring timely and accurate recording of fixed asset additions, disposals, and change requests into FAS software and export entries to be recorded into the ERP system.
  • Ensure assets placed into service contain proper audit support, including invoices and internal approvals, and that asset capitalization is in line with company accounting policy.
  • Manage the reconciliation of construction in process accounts, working closely with individual company leaders to understand timing of when asset anticipated to be placed in service.
  • Perform cost adjustments, depreciation/amortization, retirement or disposal consistently with GAAP.
  • Become the point person and expert on fixed asset accounting policies and procedures, educating the internal departments as necessary and responding to fixed assets questions and requests as they arise.
  • Tracked company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
  • Work closely with the various individual company leaders to gather necessary information to ensure proper capitalization of assets.
  • Responsible for generating various monthly and ad hoc equipment repair reports from ERP system.
  • Manage process for obtaining estimated equipment fair values annually from company managers for insurance purposes.
  • Complete new vehicle registrations for vehicles registered in Polk County, Iowa
  • Complete personal property and real property tax filings for company activities in various states.
  • Occasional invoicing of transactions via QuickBooks.
  • Cross training with other members of the accounting team on daily cash reconciliation, company credit card management, and other daily projects as necessary due to team member vacations.
  • Other senior accounting functions as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
  • Strong experience (3+ years) in fixed assets or general accounting roles, with evidence of expanding responsibilities.
  • Ability and desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing and improving environment.
  • Strong analytical and organization skills with a focus on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to identify problems, develop and execute solutions.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Must be 18 years in age or older
  • Must pass post-offer employment drug testing.
  • CPA is desired, but not required.
