Pharmacy Technician We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital team, focusing primarily on medication deliveries. This role is essential in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of medications and supplies to various departments within the hospital, supporting both patient care and pharmacy operations. Responsibilities: Efficiently deliver medications, supplies, and pharmaceutical products to designated hospital units and departments. Maintain accurate delivery logs and ensure proper documentation of all transactions. Verify patient and unit information to ensure correct delivery. Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals regarding deliveries. Follow all hospital protocols and safety procedures, including infection control and HIPAA compliance. Assist with inventory management related to delivery items. Report any discrepancies, delays, or issues to the pharmacy team promptly. Perform designated technical functions to facilitate pharmacy operations. Under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, prepare oral, topical, and parenteral medications for dispensing to patients, including selecting, labeling, and packaging appropriate pharmaceuticals using appropriate IV equipment, and filling medication carts. Monitor stock inventory levels and medication expiration dates for pharmacy areas and replenish medications as needed. Conduct monthly/periodic inspections of patient care/department areas. Complete and maintain controlled substance inventory logs/records. Maintain clean and orderly workstations. Essential Skills: Pharmacy technician certification (CPHT). Pharmacy technician certificate. Pharmacy license (D.C.) required. 1-2 years of experience in Retail, Oncology, or Hospital settings. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Compounding and fulfillment experience. Experience with Pyxis systems. Hospital experience preferred but not required. High school degree or GED diploma is required. DC Department of Health (DOH) registration is required. Work Environment: This position is based in a hospital setting, with afternoon/mid-shift hours from 3pm-11pm, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends. Training will occur during the day shift depending on experience. The pharmacy department operates in an extremely fast-paced environment, filling a prescription per minute and handling a minimum of 2,000 dosages per shift. Technicians remain on their feet for eight hours with two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch. Candidates should expect to rotate holidays and weekends, and be present during inclement weather, with provided Uber compensation for snowstorms. Candidates are expected to pay for parking, but there is an extra hourly compensation to assist with reimbursement. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.50/hr.
