As a CNC machinist you will work independently and as a part of the team to contribute to the clean manufacturing of our state-of-the-art hypersonic systems. Our work will strengthen and challenge creativity, assertiveness and quick thinking, which will all contribute to your personal and professional development.
RESPONSIBILTIES
- Calculate dimensions and tolerance using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometer
- Operate ST-45L lathes and perform the required maintenance to keep the machine running
- Operate VF-5XT Mill and perform the required maintenance to keep the machine running
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs
- Study sample parts, blueprints, job orders, and drawings, and engineering information to determine product dimensions and tolerance
- Maintain adequate documentation such as process sheets and inspection reports to ensure quality assurance
- Select and set cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties Work with a wide variety of unique materials including carbon fiber, fiber glass, and graphite
- Perform in-process inspection for dimensions of parts produced and maintain documentation as required
- Be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instruction
- Can get along with co-workers or peers and respond appropriately to feedback from a supervisor in a professional manner

- Willing and able to obtain and maintain secret/TS level security clearance
- Willing and able to work extended hours and weekends as required
- Associates degree or bachelor's degree (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering Technology +6-12 years of experience
- The position requires the ability to boundary span from conceptual design, analysis, process improvement, verbal communication, coordination, attention to detail, and judgement
- Work with a fast-paced, cross-functional, highly collaborative manufacturing team to advance our unique suborbital and orbital launch systems
- Vocational training or job-related course work is preferred
- Knowledge of machine tools, repair, and maintenance
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cots, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture
