The Emergency Response Specialist leads a team of state certified emergency responders, who add value to manufacturing operations through overall emergency management & response, as well as incident mitigation, fire suppression, medical intervention, hazardous materials clean-up, and confined space rescue operations.

Responsibilities:

• Supports the daily operations of the Emergency Response System.

• Coordinate response with management and local responding agencies.

• Leads the plant incident command structure in all plant emergencies

• Leads response with plant leaders and local outside responding agencies

• Leads plant Emergency Services (ES) medical responses, all hazardous material cleans up, and Confined Space rescue activities

• Leads training activities, and ensures all situations are planned for under the company’s Emergency Response Plan

• Manages, and annualizes activities with all fire protection system maintenance or modifications, drawing reviews, inspections, testing and working closely with critical communication with horizontal communication

• Support Team level business planning and budget

• Daily permitting/inspections for Hot Work, Confined Space and Elevated work

• Monitors activity for compliance by both associates and contractors

• Assist Fire Chief with implementation of ES projects and initiatives as requested

• Develops ES team with professional skills and technical expertise

• Supports audits, property risk surveys, and related countermeasures and activities

• Leads recruitment and team building activities.

• Ensures that all fire suppression equipment, policies and procedures comply with local/state, Federal and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) requirements

• As plant emergency response plant leader, ensures that all plant business leaders are prepared for emergency situations

• Leads ERT (Emergency Response Team) interaction with local responding agencies building strong working relationships that serve as a unified command when outside agency assistance is needed

Education/Experience:

• A.S. Fire Science, B.S. Fire Administration, Fire Investigation or Fire Science certificate preferred or equivalent experience

• Minimum of 5-7+ years of relevant experience

• Firefighter I Certification required

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification required

• Hazmat Technician Certification preferred

• Firefighter II Certification preferred

• Paramedic Certification preferred

• Other Certifications: Certified Fire Protection Specialist, Confined Space, Rope Rescue Technician

Knowledge/Skills:

• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal relationship skills

• Expert understanding of medical and fire prevention systems

• Ability to mentor technical associates

• Project management skills

• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

• Construction Safety experience

• Prompt and regular attendance within our onsite operations

• Flexibility to work adjusted shifts as necessary

Additional Requirements:

• This role requires up to 10% of travel (domestic)
