The Opportunity:

The Business Office is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join Unity Environmental University's Enterprise team. This Enterprise position is responsible for performing Accounts Receivable related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director of the Business Office as well as other Unity Environmental University Enterprise and Sustainable Education Business Units (SEBUs) budget managers.

Day to day responsibilities:

* Prepares, posts, verifies, and records student/vendor payments and transactions related to accounts receivable. * Disburses batches from CAMS daily to update student ledger. * Creates student bills/statements according to Unity Environmental University practices; submits student bills/statements to appropriate unit or SEBU. * Maintains and updates student ledger, including name, address, mailing attentions, and student's bill. * Drafts correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections; identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files and sends to appropriate units and SEBU's. * Creates reports regarding the current status of student accounts as requested. * Research student discrepancies and past-due amounts with the assistance of other staff. * Reconciles accounts receivable on a periodic (at least bimonthly) basis. * Reconciles revenue accounts each month. * Assists multiple units in running and reconciling census reports each term. * Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed. * Relays changes of information to appropriate units as soon as made aware. * Enters accounts receivable invoices into GP Dynamics. * Administers online credit card payment systems to include, but not limited to student accounts, donations, and enrollment deposits. Records cash receipts from all sources. * Prepares daily deposit and journal entries. * Administers remote check scanner to deposit checks. * Maintains relationship with the University's bank and credit card processor to reconcile ACH and EFT payments. * Other duties as assigned.

* Associate or bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting. * Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft products and accounting software with a preference in knowledge of GP Dynamics, Business Central, and Power Bi. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and students. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to multi-task and establish priorities for meeting deadlines, using time efficiently. * Ability to function effectively within a matrix organizational structure, maintaining open lines of communication while being discreet, courteous and well poised.

Just a half hour from Portland, Unity Environmental University Headquarters, Unity Environmental University Distance Education, The Technical School for Environmental Professions, and the School of Environmental Business & Sustainable Ventures are based at the Pineland Farms campus. The facilities are within easy access to one of the fastest-growing cities for startups in the country.

Work Schedule:

Work hours are specific to the requirements of this position and can include days, evenings, weekends. Working extended hours may be required as needed and Unity Environmental University employees must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling their responsibilities while meeting the University's needs.

Although at Unity Environmental University Enterprise employees are generally scheduled to work at their base location, there are times when travel is necessary and employees are required from time to time to attend events, meetings or work temporary assignment at any at Unity Environmental University location.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of either hand for repetitive movements such as grasping, grasping, and turning, and fine manipulation is required as is the ability to use the telephone for internal and external communications.
