SEK is partnering with our client, a $100 million plus manufacturing company with three plants in MD/PA, in their search for a dynamic and strategic Controller to join their executive team. In this vital role you will work closely with the CEO and leadership to ensure the financial health of the company. As the Controller your insights and financial expertise will be instrumental in guiding the company's growth trajectory and maximizing profitability. The Controller is responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of accounting operations including financial management and reporting for the company across three plants in MD/PA.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and collaborate with related departments as needed across the company,
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements including monthly P&Ls and ensure adherence to financial close process.
  • Manage all accounting transactions including but not limited to AR, AP, G/L, payroll, and cash management.
  • Oversight of cost estimating system.
  • Preparation budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor banking activities to ensure adequate cash flow to meet company's needs.
  • Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors. Prepare documentation for retirement plan and workers' compensation audits.
  • Monitor tax filings and calculate research and development tax credit.
  • Negotiate, implement, and maintain business and health insurance contracts.
  • Serve as the company's liaison and maintain relationships with accountants, attorneys, financial institutions and other key contacts.
  • Maintain and update key contracts for insurance, utilities, suppliers, and technology.
  • Attend Board of Director meetings.
  • Oversee, maintain, and update key data in the ERP software.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in public and/or private accounting with financial and tax reporting responsibilities.
  • Manufacturing industry experience a plus but not required.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial processes, and internal controls.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with confidential information and to demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites as well as accounting software.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to all three plants in MD/PA.
