The Senior Manager Finance, Overheads provides financial and systems leadership and expertise to the financial leaders in the corporation. In this role, the Senior Manager, Finance will be responsible for establishing and performing overhead financial analyses, establishing the appropriate forecasting processes, and reporting overhead insights and overall performance out to the leadership team.Additionally, the role needs to work with Human Resources to establish headcount reporting linked to the Companies organizational structure and strategic priorities.The role is also responsible for ensuring overheads are appropriately allocated / reported at the brand, customer, and country level. Assess spending by global functional leader vs. budget and forecast. Report out overhead performance to the Executive Leadership team, with analysis on items driving performance vs. forecast (budget) and identifying any risks / opportunities based on run rate. Perform trend analysis on spend to ensure progress / investment against strategic priorities. Analyze people vs. bought spending and develop tools to assess reasonableness of forecast. Link people spending to HR tools. Develop relationships with functional leaders to influence investment decisions, make adjustments as needed to spend, and ensure the functions are delivering against the Company priorities. Integrate headcount and spend forecasting as part of overhead analysis and reporting. Ensure proper headcount reporting in a consistent manner.Work with HR to standup the appropriate headcount buckets and process to ensure consistency. Ensure deep understanding of bought costs and discretionary choices to be made. Monitor T&E spending and report out as necessary. Provide spending analysis on outside services, consulting, and contributions. Take an active role in determining 5-year model for overheads. Understand fixed and variable components of overhead to assist in modeling and identifying opportunities and risk. Develop models to project cost (e.g., LTIP cost based on performance thresholds) Develop and ensure appropriate allocation of overheads to brand, customer, and country P&L, appropriately considering underlying activities. Ensure proper phasing of overhead costs by month Establish process to manage global overheads. Run the flip and allocation process. Benchmark spending by function/identify opportunities. Organize the overheads team to support global overhead reporting and forecasting. In addition to the duties above, the Sr. Manager, Finance will also: Lead the advancement of the company's forecasting process to drive efficiencies and improvements in analytical flexibility; this includes, but is not limited to, potential technology solutions to enhance the current forecasting methodology. Oversee ongoing technical support for our financial systems. Evaluate / deploy Hyperion suite of tools effectively. Provide strong leadership and communication to the business and functional leaders. Provide career development and coaching/mentoring to the Finance staff using the Newell individual performance management process. Effectively collaborate with the business unit, international, and Corporate finance teams. Key Qualifications: Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics. 8-10 years of experience in finance/accounting, preferably in a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environment. Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role. CPA and/or MBA desired. Significant experience with SAP and Hyperion products is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills. Demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of finance and accounting. Strong finance experience. Demonstrated ability to foster and develop strong finance teams that partner with business teams to drive growth. Ability to simplify and enhance processes. Assess risks and opportunities within complex / matrixed business situations. Demonstrated ability to recommend and make decisions quickly under any situation. Has innate curiosity and takes ownership. Demonstrated record of solid career progression. Action orientation and assertive style. Ability to be objective is required.
