**Job Responsibilities: What you will do**

Investigate and resolve first and third party complex commercial claims on behalf of Swift and its drivers. Handle claims in accordance with prescribed authority and according to claims best practices. Incumbents have up to $100,000 reserve authority; $50,000 settlement authority and $25,000 payment authority.

* Authorizes and/or approves all claims payments within the delegated authority or within the maximum limits as outlined in company policies and procedures.

* Determines proper policy coverages and investigates, evaluates, negotiates and equitabily settles all assigned claims cases.

* Make decisions and resolve conflicts in such areas as application of coverages to submitted claims, application of laws of jurisdiction to investigatory facts, application of policy exclusions and exceoptions as well as the ability to read and understand contracts, hold harmless and indemnity agreements.

* Documents and establishes timely reserves and executes claims payments. Provides recommended action for all claims payments beyond delegated authority.

* Conducts settlement negotiations with claimants, policy holders and/or their attorneys.

* Manages and directs the litigation process through retention of counsel and experts to include setting appropriate expectations.

* Identitfies and communicates specific claim trends and policy/contract issues to management.

* Identifies fraud and subrogation opportunities.

* Prepares for and advocates at depositions, trials and mediations for the Company.

* Collaborates regularly with defense counsel to strategies and formulate plans for defense.

* May assist in the development,mentoring and/or training of individual team members.

* Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

**Qualifications: What you need to bring**

* 8-10 years' complex claims experience required.

* 2-3 years' claims experience in transportation industry required.

* Bachelors' degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

* Maintain state licensing where required.

* Successful completion of claims certification schools/classes such as AIC, AEI, ARM, CPCU preferred.

* Must be flexible to be on-call 24/7 on rotating basis.

* Must possess expert understanding of property and casualty insurance and claim handling process.

* Must possess exceptional critical thinking skills and provide innovative and workable resolutions to complex issues and circumstances.

* Must be very familiar with legal terminology and able to identify material items.

* Must possess exceptional negotiation skills and appropriately influence and persuade others.

* Must be able to work in a fast-paced,highly intense environment and possess excellent time management skills.

* Must be able to effectively manage multiple demands.

* Must be able to analyze complex situations.

* Must be proficient with MS Office suite.

* Must be able to work independently or in a team envrionment.

* Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

* Must possess excellent research abilities.
