Tax & Regulatory Compliance Specialist

The Tax & Regulatory Compliance Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organization's adherence to tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Working within the accounting department, this position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of tax codes and compliance standards. The specialist collaborates closely with internal teams, external auditors, and regulatory authorities to maintain accurate financial records and mitigate tax-related risks.

+ Tax Compliance:

+ Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, property tax, and other relevant filings.

+ Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the organization's compliance and identifying potential tax-saving opportunities.

+ Assist in tax planning activities to optimize the organization's tax position and minimize tax liabilities.

+ Regulatory Reporting:

+ Prepare and submit regulatory reports to governmental agencies, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.

+ Maintain documentation and records to support regulatory filings and respond to inquiries or audits from regulatory authorities.

+ Financial Analysis:

+ Analyze financial data and transactions to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

+ Identify areas of potential tax exposure or risk and recommend appropriate remedial actions.

+ Internal Controls:

+ Develop and implement internal controls related to tax compliance processes to safeguard financial assets and ensure accuracy.

+ Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify opportunities for improvement.

+ Cross-Functional Collaboration:

+ Collaborate with other departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to gather necessary information and support tax-related initiatives.

+ Serve as a subject matter expert on tax matters, providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders as needed.

+ Audits and Investigations:

+ Assist in the preparation for and coordination of tax audits and investigations by regulatory authorities or external auditors.

+ Compile documentation, respond to inquiries, and facilitate communication with auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

+ 3-5 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably in a corporate environment or public accounting firm.

+ Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.

+ Tax law and regulatory knowledge

+ Financial analysis and reporting

+ Attention to detail and accuracy

+ Proficiency in tax software and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).

+ Excellent analytical skills and attention to details

+ Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
