DescriptionBASIC FUNCTIONProvide technical support to the electrical, instrumentation, and analyzer activities of the HDPE and HDA plants, and general facilities, with the objective of continuously improving reliability and health, safety, environmental and loss control performance.RESPONSIBILITIESPosition GeneralProvide technical support to the Maintenance I&E Supervisor, electricians, instrumentation and analyzer technicians, operations, and maintenance engineers, and DCS specialistsAssist Operations in troubleshooting instrument, analyzer, and electrical problemsProvide engineering assistance for the justification, design, and installation of capital projectsAssist with outage planning and execution for planned and unplanned outagesAssist in performing surveillance of repairs involving outside vendorsAssist in maintaining accurate and current equipment file room documentationContribute to continuous improvement by offering suggestions for long-term solutions to minimize costs, improve reliability, and improve loss control performanceUnderstand, support and comply with all plant safety policies and procedures including the use of loss control software for loss control reporting and communicationPosition requires flexibility with work schedule to accommodate plant needs, and performing "on-call" function by periodically being 100% available 24/7Utilize software to observe and monitor PLC system status and assist with logic changesAssist with the administration of the process control computer and network systems including software and antivirus patching, hardware upgrades, and troubleshootingInterface with CenterPoint and Industrial neighbors for maintenance activities in the Hunter SubstationContinually manage the addition and revision of spare parts for Electrical, Instrumentation and Analyzer (E/I/A) equipmentCreate and revise preventive and predictive maintenance plansParticipate in quality assurance and commissioning of new equipment as neededOther duties as assignedCORE VALUES Must exhibit and demonstrate our 5 Core Values Caring: Dedicated to Safety, Employees, Customers, Community and EnvironmentTrustworthy: Living a Culture of Openness, Honesty and CollaborationFocused: Creating Value by Delivering the Right SolutionsInnovative: Daring to be different by finding New WaysFun: Embracing our Diverse Family and Celebrating our SuccessCOMPETENCIES Job Knowledge - Understands facets of job, aware of duties and responsibilities, keep job knowledge currentProductivity - Manages workload, works efficiently, meets goals and objectivesQuality - Strives to eliminate errors, accurate work is a priority, seeks opportunities to improve product/servicesSafety - HSSE - Works in a safe manner, uses PPE, recognizes hazards, makes safety suggestions and observations, current on Training MineQUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREDB.S. in Electrical Engineering 0 - 5 years of experience as a plant electrical engineer requiredComputer proficient (MS Office, MS Project, SAP)Excellent verbal/written communicationAbility to plan and manage multiple issues/projects simultaneouslyPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE5 years of experience preferredPHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTSThis position requires the incumbent to:Follow site safety requirements for the role and wear mandatory FRC and PPE (foot, head, ear, eye, hand, and fall protection) when inside plant environment or where directed by signage or procedureRead and understand technical documents and procedures in English.Specific vision abilities include near, far, and intermediate distances, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perceptionRequired to work at ground level, from ladders, and from heights greater than 250' above grade on fixed platforms, mobile equipment platforms, and scaffoldingAscend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders with and without a safety cageAccess confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 24" manwaysMust be capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 poundsFrequent bending, reaching, stooping, crawling, walking, and climbingSit or stand for extended periods of timeWork at computer for significant periods of time throughout the dayRequired to reach overhead and at shoulder level with hands and armsMust demonstrate fine and gross motor coordination including pinching, gripping, turning, and keyboarding of both handsMove about uneven surfaces, including catwalks, deck grating, and wet and muddy areasWork outside in all weather conditions walking up to mile per job
