We are seeking a qualified Business Development Specialist to extend our reach through strategic business pursuits and develop/maintain client relationships for our Transportation Division. This individual will have a geographic emphasis in the eastern and north central part of Wisconsin and have the potential to serve in a full-time or part-time capacity. You will join a team of experts proud to be major players in the highway, structural, traffic, and construction engineering disciplines. Success will be defined by your ability to build Ayres reputation and market position through strategic business relationships, collaboration with transportation leaders, and alignment of staff to seamlessly transition client relationships to project managers.

**On any given day, youll:** * Develop and implement a strategic business development plan and marketing strategy with measurable goals to include coordination and implementation of client pursuits.

* Perform client maintenance and cold calls in conformity to group managers business plans.

* Track transportation business development leads and opportunities and communicate activities and objectives with technical staff and management.

* Cross-sell professional services provided by Ayres and connect our clients to appropriate staff members.

* Connect with clients to understand their needs and develop a solution to address those needs.

* Serve as an ambassador of Ayres through commitment to community and being active in a civic or professional organization with a leadership role.

* Monitor client satisfaction through clear communication.

* Assist group managers and project managers in the development and preparation of written project proposals.

* Develop interview strategies and participate in interviews to present company qualifications.

* Coordinate arrangements and participate in trade shows and hospitality rooms as appropriate. Attend other related conferences and events where clients frequent to increase client contact efficiency.

* Mentor staff assigned in business development activities, including jointly calling on clients and participating in trade shows.

**Required Qualifications:**

* Existing relationships with government officials in the transportation field in Wisconsin.

* A willingness to travel regularly with some overnight stay expected.

* Valid drivers license.

**Desired Qualifications and Skills**

* Demonstrated aptitude for business development, decision making, interpersonal skills, and as a strong team player.

* Formal training in business administration, sales, communications, or relevant field.

* Technical aptitude with ability to understand clients needs and align services appropriately.

* Effective communicator in a variety of settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, and virtual.

* Experience developing clients and competing for and winning projects.
