Senior Associate, Internal Communications (Hybrid) The Executive Office The Executive Office (EO) is a dynamic, high-volume department that serves the needs of the entire institution and its external constituents by supporting the work of the president and chief executive officer. EO staff gain exposure to a wide range of individuals from inside and outside the organization and have the opportunity to work on diverse projects. The EO staff facilitates communications between the president and various departments of Pew. In addition, the EO staff coordinates relationships and communications with outside constituents, as well as consultants and prospective partners. The EO provides strategic support to the business by aligning its priorities and service delivery with the needs of the organization, providing expertise and leadership in each functional area, and serving as an internal consultant to help drive results. The EO is responsible for internal communications, helping to improve employee engagement, further organizational outcomes, and reinforce Pew's values. The team delivers integrated organizational messages, hosts events, and shares best practices. Position Overview Reporting to the director of internal communications in the executive office, the senior associate, Internal Communications supports the execution of an internal communications strategy to align, inform, connect, and engage colleagues, including writing materials for Pew's president and CEO, other leaders, and intranet. The senior associate will draft and develop internal and executive communications content, collaborate with stakeholders, project manage various communication initiatives, and support internal events that create and encourage staff engagement. This position plays a key role writing communications for Pew's president and CEO, intranet, and other leaders and units that advance institutional priorities, Pew's values, philanthropic partnerships, and a strong internal culture. The ideal candidate will be experienced in writing in another's voice and comfortable adjusting writing styles. They will be familiar with developing highly responsive, well-researched materials in a fast-paced environment, while adhering to a nonpartisan approach. The position requires excellent writing skills, a solid understanding of internal communications, project management skills, and the ability to build relationships across departments. Responsibilities Support the implementation of the internal communications strategic plan under the direction of the director of internal communications in the executive office. Write clear, articulate, and on-message communications: Develop internal stories and features for Pew's intranet that highlight the organization's programs and initiatives, values, and goals, and help to drive staff engagement and showcase Pew's work. Create or edit materials that reflect the CEOs voice and institutional priorities, including correspondence and reports. Produce materials on behalf of other Pew leaders or internal units as needed. Support special projects, including drafting and managing reports, researching, and creating other communications materials. Assist in planning and execution of internal events and activities that foster a strong culture, including volunteer activities for staff, and maintain editorial and institutional calendars. Stay current on internal and executive communications trends and best practices, incorporating new ideas as appropriate. Support the organization's journey toward a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable organization by ensuring that all communication supports DEI goals and priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Generally, requires 4 years of experience, and a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Degree in Communications or English degree preferred. A minimum of four years of internal communications or executive communications-related experience. Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in clear, compelling ways. Able to write quickly while maintaining a high level of quality on short deadlines, and to edit the work of others. Demonstrated ability to write in other's voices, and to adapt writing style to the leader or organization on a project-by-project basis. Track record of effective working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, including managers and peers. Strong organizational and project management skills, including managing multiple priorities. A dedication to communicating factual, data-driven information through a nonpartisan lens. Team-oriented attitude, with the ability to work independently. Sound judgment in determining relevant content for internal audiences and anticipating trends and interests within and outside of the organization. The position is based in Pew's Washington D.C. office and is eligible for hybrid work (two core days in office). Work Authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country for which they are seeking employment without the need of a visa sponsorship. Salary Range $72,500 USD - $81,000 USD The salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pew's commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business need.
