Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate RN to join our team of psychiatric inpatient nurses at UNM Hospitals. As a member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care in a mental health environment, working closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Key responsibilities include interviewing and assessing patients, observing behavior and mental status, and administering medication and treatment. You will also have the opportunity to facilitate group therapy and education sessions, collaborate with other healthcare professionals, and participate in ongoing education and professional development. Responsibilities: Interview and assess patients with various cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders Observe patient behavior, activities, and mental status; perform triage and crisis intervention Write treatment plans; coordinate patient drug and procedure activities; administer medication and treatment Provide and coordinate nursing care of assigned patients; may facilitate group therapy and/or education sessions Chart and report observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patients' conditions; collect and document data and information Perform nursing intakes, draw blood and other patient specimens; may perform or coordinate laboratory tests Provide information and facilitate communication between physicians, medical students, staff, patients, families, and community; coordinate and consult with a milieu of service providers Requirements: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM 1 year directly related experience Working Conditions: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people Significant Hazard: Physical risk/injuries due to combative patients Significant Hazard: Chemicals, Bio-Hazardous Materials require PPE Department: Registered Nurse
