We are seeking a professional like you to be part of the Automation, Controls and Electrical team within the Technical Expertise department. We expect a highly qualified individual who will identify, champion, implement and maintain Process Automation Systems, specializing in the Process Control Technology area. You will provide a key contribution to the North American manufacturing sites on their Journey to Operational Excellence.

**As a Staff Process Control Optimization Engineer, You Create Chemistry By...**

+ Traveling to BASFs operating sites to evaluate process units, conducting performance tests, troubleshooting, designing improved processes, optimizing units and providing debottlenecking assistance for typical process units.

+ Providing expertise in utilization of continuous Improvement tools to evaluate capability of existing process and investigate recurring issues (Six Sigma, DMAIC, DOE, Root Cause Analysis, Gage R&R, etc.)

+ Developing and supporting implementation of best practices throughout the organization, and sharing know-how and acts as expert in the field on a regional and global level. Being able to provide leadership on project teams.

+ Providing expertise in the functional design and implementation of process automation, such as process control strategies, model predictive control applications and real-time optimization,

+ Developing cost/benefit analyses for potential new projects.

+ Troubleshooting process control problems - Identify causes, make recommendations for and implement improvements.

**If you...**

+ Have a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering required with a minimum of 10 years including experience in process control projects in the Chemicals, Refining or Petrochemicals industryof experience or Bacherlos's Degree in Chemical Engineering with a Master's Degree or PhD with 8+ years experience.

+ Possess strong technical knowledge in the fundamentals of unit operations, such as reactors, distillation towers, heat exchangers as well as have knowledge of controls engineering and controls systems, and a basic knowledge of the various types of pressure, level, temperature, and flow instrumentation.

+ Have experience with AspenTech DMCPlus, DMC3, Process Control AI and/or other similar software applications it is preferred.

+ Have availability to travel between 30% and 50% of the time.

+ Possess Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
