Employment Type:Full timeShift:Evening ShiftDescription:POSITION PURPOSEAnesthesia technicians are integral members of the anesthesia patient care team who assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in a variety of specialized and complex invasive and non-invasive anesthesia procedures. The anesthesia technician provides patient care in collaboration with licensed anesthesia providers by preparing the patient and assisting in monitoring the patient's condition during various anesthesia procedures. They take into consideration age specific, developmental, and cultural needs of the patient. The anesthesia technician also insures the acquisition, preparation, and application of the equipment and supplies that are required for the administration of anesthesia. The anesthesia technicians have on-call responsibilities and are available to the Department of Anesthesiology 24-hours a day, seven days a week for needed technical assistance and support.Anesthesia TechFull-time, 40 hours a week2:30pm-11:00pmGeneral SummaryAnesthesia technicians play a crucial role in the anesthesia patient care team. They assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in both invasive and non-invasive anesthesia procedures, ensuring patient care and safety throughout.Required Education, Experience, and Certification/LicensureEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a fast-paced clinical setting required. Prior experience as an Anesthesia Technician or current enrollment in an Anesthesia Tech program preferred.Education Preferred: One-year formal education with background in medical terminology, health sciences, EKG, or pharmacology.Preferred Experience: Experience in hospital critical care units.Certifications: Annual BLS certification required. Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians desired.Example of Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesAssisting Anesthesia Professionals:Anticipating and assisting with invasive procedures according to the OR schedule.Helping prepare and drape patients for invasive monitoring procedures.Assisting with procedures like pulmonary artery catheterization, central venous access, fiber optic intubation, and managing difficult airway situations.Technical Support:Ensuring necessary equipment is available in each operating room.Preparing and assembling equipment for arterial, central venous, and pulmonary artery pressure monitoring.Maintenance and Organization:Keeping anesthesia workstations clean and organized daily.Maintaining and replacing sharps disposal systems as needed.Rotating supply stock in workrooms and anesthesia workstations.Basic Anesthesia Technician Duties:Stocking operating rooms with necessary anesthesia equipment and supplies.Cleaning anesthesia equipment after procedures.Ensuring anesthesia machines are ready and available for use.Pyxis Anesthesia Medication Refill:Refilling medications for patient use.Reviewing computer reports to manage medication levels.Filling patient medication orders from computer-generated reports and returning unused medications to storage.Our Commitment to Diversity and InclusionTrinity Health is one of the largest not-for-profit, Catholic healthcare systems in the nation.
