The Community Engagement Specialist assists in raising awareness of CHS programs, needs and opportunities and coordinates activities that will have a positive financial or other impact in advancing the CHS mission. The incumbent will perform educational and outreach activities, coordinate the regional volunteer process, and manage community in-kind donations that will benefit CHS, its programs, and clients. Overall, theCommunity Engagement Specialist contributes to the CHS high-performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that position CHS as the leader in delivering proactive behavioral health, case management, community and early childhood solutions for children and families.

Primary Job Functions

1. Assist in raising awareness of CHS programs, needs and opportunities and coordinate activities that will have a positive financial or other impact in advancing the CHS mission.

Community Education & Outreach (35%)
  • Develop and deliver educational and outreach activities and events to promote CHS programs, needs and opportunities.
  • Collaborate in developing and implementing innovative strategies and tools to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of community engagement programs and campaigns.
  • Support donor and community partner cultivation through campaigns, volunteer activities, outreach, and advocacy.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to engage organizations and businesses to increase support for CHS and its programs, and involve other Development team members, when appropriate.
  • Assist with Development special events, when needed.
  • Support data collection, reporting, grant writing and renewal processes for programs and campaigns.
  • Use the CRM to document activities within 24 hours, staying current changes while following Moves Management policy and practices.
Volunteer/Intern Cultivation & Process Coordination (35%)
  • Recruit, select, screen, orient, train, retain and steward CHS volunteers and interns; assist in assigning program volunteers.
  • Assist in identifying new volunteer and community partnerships by attending community and networking events.
  • Provide volunteers for special events, as necessary.
  • Plan and facilitate volunteer projects and opportunities that will best support CHS programs and clients.
  • Coordinate special activities (such as volunteer recognition) or projects.
  • Develop and prepare educational materials for volunteer training.
  • Respond to questions and calls concerning volunteer opportunities with CHS.
  • Work with Communications to send out volunteer updates, communications and event promotion.
  • Assist in monitoring data relating to volunteer diversity; ensure that volunteers mirror the diversity of the community and create an environment of inclusion.
  • Maintain current and accurate volunteer/intern files, records, and opportunities; maintain statistics and prepare reports.
Community In-Kind Donation Management (30%)
  • Work with CHS leadership and other stakeholders to secure critical items necessary for CHS programs, as well as to establish and use best practices for managing in-kind match grants.
  • Develop and implement strategies to help programs meet match requirements and provide needed resources to clients.
  • Develop partnerships with groups and individuals to participate in targeted in-kind drives and sponsoring for CHS.
  • Track donations and work interdepartmentally to ensure proper allocation, distribution and reporting of in-kind.
  • Steward CHS in-kind donors gift and ensure acknowledgement.
  • Facilitate logistics regarding in-kind donations.
2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.
  • Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training, and education, as well as the quality process.
  • Comply with CHS's code of conduct, policies, procedures, and other obligations.
  • Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.
  • Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
  • Demonstrate the CHS Common Bond values in the performance of all job duties.
Job Qualifications

Education, Licenses & Certifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration or related field from an accredited university, preferred.
  • Florida Driver's License within 30 days from hire with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle, required
Experience:
  • Two years of related work experience, required.
  • One year social services and/or community agency experience, preferred.
  • Experience in CRM or volunteer management systems, preferred.

Schedule Expectations

This position is hybrid with significant regional travel for donor meetings and engagement with infrequent afterhours and weekend fundraising events. This position covers all of Greater Tampa & Greater Lakeland
