MANAGER IN TRAINING (MIT) Reports to: DISTRICT MANAGER FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary/Objective The MIT role is one of accelerated and intense training in preparation for a Store Manager position. The MIT will work closely with the District Manager and Store Manager in learning the rent-to-own business, while performing duties in all aspects of store operations such as customer service, account management, maximizing store revenue and profits, customer base growth, and management of store inventory. The MIT will observe experienced coworkers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards and become familiar with store and Field Support Center staff functions. All functions and responsibilities are to be accomplished in a way that is consistent with the RAC mission statement and core values. The MANAGER IN TRAINING will: Sales/Account Management: Set daily and weekly goals related to the stores sales activities, oversee coworkers sales activities, approve rental agreements, and monitor planned results for sales as measured by revenue and growth. Set daily and weekly goals related to the stores collection activities, oversee coworkers collection activities, follow-up on more difficult accounts that require intervention, approve customer commitments, monitor and follow-up with coworkers on planned results for collection activities to ensure all coworkers comply with established procedures and practices for collections. Leadership: Monitor and achieve planned results for profits for the store by effectively managing store resources (manage and control store expenses). Schedule and organize the daily activities and goals of all coworkers in the store and follow-up with coworkers to adjust schedules as needed and ensure they are on task. Oversee and follow-up on timely staffing of assigned store, including recruiting, interviewing, and hiring coworkers (interacting with the District Manager and Human Resources), ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements related to hiring, and support the companys commitment to maintain a diverse workforce. Maximize retention of coworkers and reduce turnover and coworker complaints by creating a positive and productive work environment. Support all efforts to comply with and effectively execute all company programs, policies and processes. Train, oversee, and monitor coworkers commitment to exceptional customer service. Monitor and improve the sales and account management skills of coworkers through training and in-the-moment coaching. Resolve problems and complaints quickly to avoid serious problems. Monitor store operations to ensure customer friendly service is consistently provided. Protect company assets through expense management, overseeing and controlling inventory, product ordering and pricing, cash handling, and store security. Provide leadership to ensure all stores merchandising, cleanliness, and overall appearance present the best possible appearance to the customer. Required Education and Experience 3 5 years of retail/management experience Completion of RACs Store Manager Development Program, 4th Gear Demonstrated ability to perform all essential job functions at the Assistant Manager level Computer literacy/proficiency in store operation applications Valid state drivers license and good driving record Preferences Friendly, with exceptional communication skills Dynamic, with an outgoing personality Driven, showing tenure and career progression at previous jobs Organized, with time-management skills and the ability to multi-task Experienced, with a keen business acumen for improving the profitability of an organization Competencies Interpersonal Communication Drive & Tenacity/Resilience Teamwork & Collaboration Quality Focus Customer Service Managing Others/Coaching & Developing Planning & Organizing Decisive Judgment Business Acumen Championing Change Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but is responsible for exhibiting leadership within the store. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a coworker to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the coworker is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The coworker must frequently lift and/or move (push/pull) heavy items and merchandise. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday, store open to close hours. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work. Schedules and hours per week/overtime work may change throughout the year as dictated by management and business needs.
