Job Type: Full Time Reports To: Vice President for University Advancement Position Summary The Campaign Director works with the Vice President for University Advancement (VPUA) to plan, manage, implement, and evaluate all capital campaign activities. The director works with the VPUA and the AVP of Development to create and execute a comprehensive principal and major gift prospect solicitations program to support Vision 2030 initiatives. The Director will manage day-to-day campaign-related issues, tracking and reporting on the progress of the campaign and serve as principal staff support to the VPUA on campaign-related issues. To successfully carry out the responsibilities of the Campaign Director, the incumbent will interact with the senior leadership of the University, the Campaign Steering Committee, trustees, leadership gift prospects, members of the University Advancement staff and the Bryant community. Principal Accountabilities Definition of Campaign Goals and Objectives: Collaborates with the VPUA, AVP of Development, Senior Staff, Board members, and volunteer campaign leadership to manage, update and implement a strategic plan for the campaign. Monitors the status of marketable gift opportunities spanning the spectrum of institution needs in conjunction with University and Divisional leadership and advises the VPUA regarding progress or variances toward achieving those goals and objectives. The Director reviews the needs of the University and the identified potential of Bryants prospect pool to provide key decision makers with the information they need to advance solicitations. The incumbent monitors tables of gifts needed to achieve the dollar goal, ensuring pipeline alignment, and reassessing strategy as needed. They also collaborate with the UA Senior Management team to implement naming policies and gift acceptance procedures. Campaign Timeline and Resource Planning: The Campaign Director develops and monitors the campaign timeline, detailing the phases of the campaign, progress in soliciting the various segments of the prospect pool and the impact of various fundraising divisions. They make recommendations regarding the scope, nature, location, and timing of campaign events, as well as develops standardized formats and materials for screening meetings, assignments and training meetings, and other localized small-group volunteer activities. They also review campaign goals and objectives in conjunction with the size and composition of the prospect pool to determine how to best assign staff to make necessary solicitations. Campaign Communications: The incumbent works with the VPUA, the AVP and the Senior Director of Advancement Communications and Stewardship to establish a campaign communications plan for Bryants internal and external constituencies. They seek to identify key campaign themes and messages and ensures these are creatively developed in a variety of communications media. Integrates news on the achievement of campaign milestones into ongoing communications/marketing outreach as appropriate. Prospect Management: Oversees a robust pipeline of potential contributors driving the development and execution of strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of campaign donors. Works with the others members of the University Advancement team (VPUA, AVP, Senior Director, Advancement Communications and Stewardship, Senior Director Advancement Services, Director of Prospect Research, Director Major Gifts, Executive Director Corporate and Foundation Relations) to enhance systems and procedures for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors to ensure they are appropriately assigned to staff and volunteers. The Campaign Director works collaboratively with the Presidents and VPUA to manage their prospects, thereby ensuring the timely and appropriate cultivation, solicitation, and follow-up. Staff Development: In consultation with the VPUA, and other relevant department heads, the Campaign Director is responsible to identify staff training needs as they emerge throughout the campaign, and for developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs on an ongoing basis. Volunteer Development and Management: In consultation with the VPUA, the Campaign Director develops a comprehensive national campaign volunteer organization with clearly defined roles, relationships, responsibilities, and reporting lines. The incumbent develops a plan for identifying, enlisting, evaluating, and recognizing campaign volunteers, ensuring that volunteers have the training and materials necessary to undertake their assigned duties. Further, they will assist the VPUA in staffing top campaign volunteer leadership. Qualifications This position is best filled by an individual with seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising and development, preferably in higher education; requires leadership level experience with comprehensive capital campaigns; and a bachelors degree in a related field. The incumbent must demonstrate highly developed collaboration, communications, interpersonal, managerial, motivational, and strategic thinking skills to effectively manage the multiple priorities associated with a complex capital campaign.
