THE ROLE

The Transportation Specialist at our Cartersville, Georgia warehouse, plays a vital role in overseeing transportation activities for logistics and freight management. Responsibilities include route planning, order processing, carrier relationship management, freight spend monitoring, accurate billing, and database management. This position requires strong clerical skills and the ability to execute tasks directed by the Operations Manager and/or General Manager. In a fast-paced warehouse environment, attention to detail and organization are key to contributing to efficient and cost-effective nationwide shipping and delivery operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare necessary shipping documentation required for domestic shipments.
  • Determine efficient and cost-effective methods of moving goods from one location to another.
  • Coordinate with carriers to obtain and update the shipment tracking information for customers.
  • Negotiate and arrange the best shipping method for the domestic orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, regulatory, and company policies.
  • Communicate with functional areas to resolve customer problems in a timely manner.
  • Process freight claims and coordinate credit or replacement as needed.
  • Maintain transportation specific procedures for receiving; coordinate full trailer loads and consolidations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure orders shipped as promised
  • Resolve freight discrepancies with carriers.
  • Ensure that the quality of all services provided meets the required standards.
  • Communicate service issues to the Customer Service Team as appropriate, ensuring timely resolution and remediation.
  • Analyze order and shipment data and identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Maintain international customer profile and relevant customer information as well as task specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Perform other tasks within the warehouse as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate Excel Experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & OTHER ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Must be able to work in varying facility conditions.
  • Strong computer knowledge including MS Office applications.
  • Basic typing skills.
  • Shipping software systems including UPS and Federal Express.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful, but not required.

COMPENSATION

The base pay for this position is $16.50 to $19.50 per hour. Final salary will be based on a candidate's experience, location, and market practices. Beyond base salary, you will be eligible for health and welfare benefits (including free options for Team Member only coverage), comprehensive time off programs, including vacation and sick leave, and other perks. We aim to offer a competitive and attractive compensation package that reflects the local market conditions and ensures our employees feel valued and supported.
