Position Title: STRATA - Safety Manager

FSLA Status: Exempt

Department: Executive Management

Reports to: Director of Safety

Date: March 2024

Purpose: Responsible for providing day to day leadership and guidance to employees regarding Safety; Manages the company's safety and risk management programs to maintain safe, healthy and accident-free work environments.

Essential Duties include the following:
  • Develops and instructs safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Develop and conduct new hire safety orientation training for all departments.
  • Implement and promote company Behavior Based Safety program to ensure company-wide participation.
  • Ensures that field personnel have the information and resources to effectively complete their jobs in a safe manner.
  • Manage and maintain all safety ratings with various agencies (ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce. etc.)
  • Develops, plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive health and safety program procedures for all areas of the organization.
  • Responsible for injury case management; coordination with insurance representatives and vendors as assigned by senior safety leadership.
  • Evaluates regulatory changes to determine potential impact and required action from Company to maintain compliance and employee safety.
  • Advise the company's administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations.
  • Help maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines and MSA's.
  • Utilize Geotab to oversee driver behaviors and enforce adherence to driving policies through monitoring and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Establish and track company safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to gauge and ensure continual progress on safety initiatives and goals.
  • Direct comprehensive, in-depth investigations of all injury and loss incidents, identify all causal factors, develop, and implement measures to prevent recurrences, and follow up to ensure long-term resolution.
  • Help manage permits, purchase safety equipment for employees, ensure employees have appropriate certifications, set standards for testing and maintenance equipment/ JSA's.
  • Coaches and mentors' safety team to maximize performance. Evaluates safety team as necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a similar role
  • Prior experience in the Oil & Gas, Electrical, and/or Powerline Industries.
  • Ability to train and educate others.
  • Certified OSHA outreach instructor and Safeland Instructor
  • Must have prior experience managing multiple departments within an organization.
  • Must possess strong leadership and management skills.
  • Must have a professional demeanor and project a professional image.
  • Must be able to multi-task and effectively juggle several tasks at one time.
  • Must be able to professionally communicate with employees, managers, customers and vendors.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook


Physical Requirements:

Able to move on feet, climbing ladders; possess good vision (normal or corrected); Able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, kneel, balance; Able to work at various heights up to 50 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas;

Must be able to get to various customer sites as required.

Work Environment:

Well-lit, heated, and/or air-conditioned modern office setting with adequate ventilation. May be exposed to heat/cold when performing duties on job sites.
