Overview

The Department of Environmental Conservation has an opportunity for a Contracts & Grants Specialist I to develop, create, and monitor grants out activities. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized person to perform professional and technical work involving the procurement of goods and services, grant drafting, and administration of grant agreements. Join a high performing team of dedicated staff.

This position has the responsibility for writing grants, MOAs, MOUs, RFPs, RFIs, and RFAs. The position will work directly with technical project managers and plays a key role in helping to provide financial assistance to municipalities, businesses, and people throughout Vermont.

This work requires a high degree of responsibility for working with internal staff and external customers. Candidates must be able to manage multiple priorities and keep track of grants and agreements throughout their terms. We provide a very supportive working environment with a strong team ethic.

The Department of Environmental Conservation currently operates in a hybrid working environment, supporting remote work as well as Core Days in which all staff are in the office. Permission to participate in telework is applied for on an individual basis.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a standard office setting but may involve some travel for which private means of transportation is required. Some evening or overtime work may be necessary. Interaction with grantees, contractors and consultants through phone contact is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, financial auditing, grants administration, or another closely related field.

OR


Three (3) years or more of combined education and experience in accounting, business management, financial auditing, grants administration, or another relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with continuous improvement processes, use of Excel, and familiarity with any grant management system.
