The Vice President of Advancement leads the implementation of an integrated resource development and advancement strategy to build the organization's financial resources, visibility, and reputational impact. This individual is responsible for raising private and public dollars in support of Brightpoint’s annual operating budget and strategic funding priorities; directing volunteer engagement; and managing donor communication and marketing. The Vice President reports to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and works closely with the CAO to implement organization-wide strategies to grow Brightpoint’s funding. Core Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions: Plans, implements and oversees fundraising activities including major gifts, annual giving, special events, corporate and foundation relations, prospect research, planned gifts, volunteers, donor communications, donor and volunteer marketing and e-philanthropy. Manages donor marketing and communications to support advancement and fundraising activities. Implements new and innovative revenue streams, with a focus on increasing sustainable unrestricted revenue. Plans, launches, and completes successful campaigns with programmatic, endowment and capital elements that align with the strategic plan. Oversees and maintains a personal portfolio of major donors. Staffs the CAO and CEO on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donor portfolios. Staffs the Resource Development and Board Affairs committees. Assists with recruitment and engagement of all volunteer leadership, including the Board of Trustees, to increase their effectiveness in fundraising. Establishes new gift policies and protocols that support fundraising goals, including moving to a portfolio-based moves management system. Oversees the collaboration between private funding, public grants and contracts, advocacy, and data collection and research to ensure that all functions are aligned in support of family-centric, upstream, and antiracist program development. Supports senior leaders as needed with reporting and compliance requirements for public and private funders. Assists with managing the operating budget for the advancement department. Evaluates advancement results and provides leadership on the continual improvement of both process and results. Collects, reviews and utilizes data and information on donors, funders and activities to inform program/ department performance. Manages direct reports and a statewide team of staff, in Chicago and statewide. Builds external relationships that result in increased revenue for Brightpoint. Represents Brightpoint to external groups, highlighting agency mission and services. Demonstrates passion for the mission of Brightpoint. Participates as a member of Brightpoint’s Leadership Team. Candidate qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, psychology, or a related field required. Minimum of 10+ years’ related experience required. Proven success in managing a comprehensive advancement program preferred. Exceptional management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment. Ability to plan for and to meet fundraising goals from multiple sources and using a variety of strategies, including capital campaigns, major gifts, annual fund, planned giving and special events. Ability to set priorities and leverage staff, board and volunteers to achieve shared goals. Campaign experience and strength in major gifts fundraising. Experience with securing planned gifts. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to serve as a public spokesperson for Brightpoint. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge and wealth screening. Strong understanding of inclusive leadership principles, relationship-based leadership models, and their application in diverse organizational settings. Job details: Compensation :Salary Range starts at $130k; offers are commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience. Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, 3+ weeks paid time off in the first year including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with match. Location: 200 West Monroe Street (downtown Chicago loop). Schedule: Full-time, salaried. Regular business hours with remote flexibility 1-2 days/week.
