Identifies food safety hazards and works towards immediate and long-term correctionDirectly responsible for third party food safety and quality audits (participation, preparation and follow-up); leads and supports management team in compliance with certification standardsOversees microbiological and chemical testing of raw materials, ingredients, finished products and the manufacturing process environment; periodically reviews laboratory and sensory testing program standards, procedures and protocolsAssists in the deployment, maintenance and administration of QA software platformsManages, monitors and coordinates testing of aging ingredient and product inventory to ensure compliance with quality policy and food safety standards. Responsible for all holds and releasesLeads the plant management team in product traceability and mock recall exercisesDevelops staff to ensure the maximum contribution of each member toward QA goals and objectives through regular performance evaluationsDevelops and manages department budgetDevelops an ongoing and cooperative program of customer complaint resolution and coordinates product review, assessment, and dispositionPromotes continuous improvement through on-going teaching and training opportunities. Stays abreast of new technologies and changes in international, federal, and state food regulationsApprove product specifications, coordinates deviations to specificationsTechnical Qualifications:B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or closely related field5-10 years
