Procurement Intern - Biloxi, MS

Job Description:

The procurement team is responsible for ensuring lowest product cost and risk through supplier management, strategic negotiations, spend analysis and continuous process improvement. This individual will implement and manage strategies to provide Yates Construction with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality and delivery performance by analyzing supplier and spend data, communicating with suppliers, Direct Procurement (materials and parts), Indirect Procurement (supplies and services for operations) and Capital Equipment Procurement.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop strong stakeholder support and cooperation on assigned projects for equipment and material buyouts
  • Pre-qualify suppliers/contractors by assessing their financial credibility, insurance policies and past project experience for efficient execution of scope of work
  • Synthesize supplier, industry and market research for assigned commodities (If needed) to develop sourcing strategy as well as issue RFx (RFQ, RFB, and RFP) for sourcing assigned commodities/services
  • Support commodity business planning and savings as well as analyze historical spend, as well as forecast, spend and savings by project/commodity/business
  • Generate comprehensive cost estimates to drive decision making
  • Maintain day-to-day supplier relationships; act as the lead point of contact for all commercial issues
  • Assist in development and implementation of purchasing systems and processes to improve company efficiency.
  • Assist with executing purchase orders
  • Communicate order status to internal customers and coordinate delivery logistics.
Basic Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a 4-year Bachelor's or Master's program from an accredited college or university.
  • Work onsite in Biloxi, MS
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be able to work full time for 8 weeks
  • Must pass a background check and drug test
