SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The Field Engineer’s primary focus will be writing, reviewing, and managing work instruction processes for operating renewable energy plants. The Field Engineer will ensure that all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformity with the National Grid Renewables’ established policies and objectives while incorporating all functions related to safety, testing, repair, and maintenance of all equipment used within the owned assets.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Engineering Process and Documentation Control

Support adherence to document control procedures which ensure technical documentation is released and maintained timely, accurately and in support of NG Renewables business objectives.

Support the creation and updating of Engineering notifications to field personnel.

Write, review, and validate technical documentation before release to ensure technical documentation is issued and archived in accordance with established standardization and revision control.

Define action plans, form teams, align activities, secure cross-functional support, manage project deliverables to ensure defined results, and review for continuous improvement opportunities.

Participate in specific field component replacement/rework processes in order to qualify and properly document the necessary technical parts, tools and procedures.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THIS ROLE

Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum five (5) years relevant experience, or equivalent work experience

Strong technical writing skills and the ability to create thorough technical documentation.

Ability to review, interpret, and follow mechanical drawings, electrical schematics & wiring diagrams, and control system algorithms.

Experienced in electrical and mechanical systems analyzing equipment.

Excellent analytical skills in the operational application of new technologies, as well as problem solving of existing technologies.

Ability to work in a construction environment making use of established safety procedures and personal protective equipment. Hands-on applications will require the ability to climb vertical ladders in wind turbine towers in excess of 65 meters and work at heights greater than 90 meters.

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary, multicultural team

Expertise using Microsoft Office Suite, and other applicable software.

Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local regulations, and internal policies.

Ability to work independently on routine projects and/or under guidance on special projects, effectively incorporating engineering theories, standards, concepts, and techniques

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
