FLSA: Full-Time; Exempt

REPORTS TO: Chief School Business Officer

JOB SUMMARY:

This position provides Human Resources support and payroll services the the entire Christel House Indianapolis network.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Address payroll related issues with staff.
  • Ensure quarterly and year-end tax data is accurate.
  • Maintain the applicant tracking system, making sure all postings are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Track candidate submissions.
  • Prepare offer letters, perform background checks and oversee new hire onboarding.
  • Work with brokers and CSBO to ensure benefits offered are competitive and reasonable.
  • Coordinate staff benefits enrollments and terminations.
  • Audit monthly insurance invoices to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain all employee records.
  • Maintain HRIS access and functionality.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with employment laws.
  • Address employee relations issues.
  • Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies and procedures.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Maintain employee handbook and related policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with financial staff on all payroll reporting requirements.
  • Assist with personnel planning and provide support for annual budget activities.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide training, support, and communication related to human resource activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all employment laws.
  • Observe, receive and obtain information from relevant sources.
  • Provide information to supervisors and co-workers as needed.
  • Prepare reports as necessary.
  • Other duties assigned.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • Experience in an educational institution preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Self-starter, attention to detail, able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
  • An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Academy and Christel House International
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to look at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
