A day in the life...

As the HR Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various HR functions within the organization. This role is integral to maintaining efficient HR processes, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring compliance with company policies and labor regulations. The HR Coordinator will be involved in recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, employee engagement and wellness, attendance tracking, and HR documentation. This position is ideal for a resourceful, organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting a productive and engaged workforce.

What you will be doing...

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding to create a welcoming experience for employees.
  • Maintain employee files and ensure accurate documentation for hires, terminations, and other status changes.
  • Assist in recruiting by posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks.
Employee Relations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and HR matters.
  • Provide support in conflict resolution, escalating issues as necessary to HR leadership.
HR Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in compliance with company policy and labor laws.
  • Ensure completion of required documentation, including employment verifications, performance reviews, and disciplinary records.
  • Assist in tracking training and certification requirements for employees in compliance with industry regulations.
HRIS and Reporting
  • Maintain employee data in the HR Information System (HRIS) and generate reports as needed for management.
  • Support HR metrics reporting, helping analyze turnover, attendance, and other key indicators to inform HR strategy.
Employee Engagement and Wellness
  • Assist with planning and executing employee engagement activities, wellness programs, and events, fostering a supportive and healthy workplace.
  • Support recognition programs and other initiatives aimed at boosting employee morale and retention.
  • Provide support to employees regarding benefits enrollment and changes, assist with annual open enrollment.
Safety and Compliance
  • Collaborate with HR and Safety teams to ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in coordinating safety training sessions and maintaining records of completed training.
Payroll and Attendance Management
  • Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate timekeeping and attendance tracking, particularly for hourly production staff.
  • Monitor attendance and assist in administering attendance policies, including tardiness and absenteeism management.

(Basic Qualifications)
  • 1-3 years of experience in an HR role, ideally in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to completing tasks.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and HR best practices.

What it's like at the Russell Stover Plants
  • Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide protective gear. We also go through an in-depth Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training on your first day and continue to share safety tips daily
  • Surroundings. You'll be working around different machines - Schubert's, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and chocolate candy banks/steels.
  • Activity. Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs/ladders, and routinely lift 50 lbs.
  • Temperature. You will be comfortable year-round with our climate-controlled environment. Our temperatures are consistently around 63°F but could fluctuate depending on your specific role.
  • Smell. You will enjoy a variety of deliciously sweet aromas, and you may end your day smelling like chocolate
  • Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for food safety, personal safety and in guidance with our good manufacturing practices (GMP). Comfortable, closed-toe safety shoes are required. Leather, imitation leather, or rubber boots or shoes must be worn in the kitchen and other areas when working around hot liquid/product or hot water.
