BITCO Corporation, headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking an Assistant Underwriter for our branch office located in San Antonio TX.BITCO provides quality property and casualty insurance services to specialized industries including construction, forest products and oil gas. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Position Summary :

This position provides key functional support to the local Underwriting team through a variety of functions that include new and renewal policy set up, account analysis, account coordination, data collection and information follow-up.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Logs in New business for underwriters
  • Tracks and updates Signed/Returned Forms
  • Assists underwriters with essential renewal prep
  • Reviews applications and makes determinations or recommendations to accept, decline, or modify applications or changes in policies
  • Performs loss analysis and reviews other important detail and documentation on applications and accounts
  • May provide a full range of Underwriting support on smaller, less complex accounts
  • Collaborates with Underwriting team on quotes, renewals, applications, changes, and Underwriting issues
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with agents, providing prompt service on questions, requests, and/or issues
  • Develops information for special reports and projects, as requested by Underwriting team or management
  • Initiates requests for renewal information and orders Experian or other investigative reports; initiates appropriate risk control service
  • Rates new and renewal multi-line policies and changes in such policies, utilizing the company's current rating/publishing system and ISO, NCCI, and related online manuals
  • Calculates premiums for endorsements and cancellations of policies
  • Works with internal billing team to resolve any issues related to billing on accounts
  • Manages Interim wage report processing
  • Coordinates account details and documentation, such as file set-up, follow up on endorsements, form completion, and proofreading
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of Commercial Insurance experience strongly preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of commercial rating
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to read and interpret policy terms and other factual information
  • Ability to multi-task effectively within assigned deadlines
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency
  • Proven ability to provide prompt and effective customer service
  • Must be able to work effectively in an independent and team environment
