Senior Cloud & IT Systems Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cloud & Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This position will play a critical role in architecting, deploying, managing, and optimizing our Azure-based cloud and on premises infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.

We are seeking a customer support focused team member with a mindset for providing excellent IT services. The ideal candidate will thrive in cross team collaboration working closely with both the IT Operations as well as Development (DevOps) teams. This is a hybrid position in Tigard, OR.

This position will be hybrid in Portland, OR.

Senior Cloud & IT Systems Engineer Responsibilities

Azure Infrastructure Management (IaaS):

Design, deploy, and manage Azure-based virtual machines.

Configure and manage cloud network resources including virtual networks, subnets, and firewalls.

Implement and maintain security measures to protect cloud-based assets and data.

Monitor and optimize Azure resources for cost-effectiveness and performance.

Perform cost modeling predictive analysis of future cloud expenditures.

Azure Services and Solutions (PaaS & SaaS):

Work with development and operations teams to select and configure Azure services to meet project requirements.

Deploy and manage Azure services such as SQL, storage, Entra Connect Sync, Azure Active Directory, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Copilot, Azure DevOps, Power BI, Data Factory and SHIR (Self-hosted Integration Runtime).

Manage all Azure user provisioning and M365 license management.

Systems Engineering and Administration (On Premises):

Manage Windows Server operating systems including installation, configuration, and ongoing administration tasks.

Deploy Microsoft and 3rd party software including upgrades, updates, patches, and system migrations.

Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, malware, and other threats.

Perform routine backups and disaster recovery procedures to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.

Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and vendors to design and deploy on premises IT hardware and software solutions.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

Set up system monitoring and alerting to ensure the health and performance of IT resources.

Proactively create and communicate action plans to respond to potential opportunities, issues, risks, and threats.

Ensure application performance, uptime, and scalability, by appropriately architecting, deploying, and monitoring IT solutions.

Detect, diagnose, and resolve cloud and on premises infrastructure issues promptly while communicating and collaborating with all stakeholders and partners.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, understand their business requirements, develop proof of concept cloud solutions, and orchestrate production implementation of cloud infrastructure.

Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to developer teams, building their cloud competencies.

Documentation:

Maintain detailed documentation of cloud configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Senior Cloud & IT Systems Engineer Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or comparable work experience.

3+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a focus on Azure.

Ability to manage Azure Active Directory and AD Sync in a hybrid environment.

Experience leveraging role-based access controls for resources.

Ability to maintain backups of cloud resources.

Proficiency in architecting, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based DR solutions.

Experience planning and executing migrations from on premises to cloud environments.

Experience with cloud-based networking and security concepts.

Experience with data warehousing solutions including Azure SQL, Data Factory, SHIR and data pipelines.

Design and administration of modern business application infrastructure, including containers, microservices, CI/CD, and DevOps methodologies.

Familiarity with Azure DevOps, WAF, CDN, Digital Asset Management (DAM) & MS Graph solution deployment.

Experience with Chef, Ansible, Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code solutions.

Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, ARM templates, Azure CLI).

Azure certifications, such as Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305), or similar, preferred.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Targer Salary: $110-125K/yr.
