Job Description

Required Qualifications
  • Must have the ability to weld in 2g, 4g, and 6g positions.
  • Must be able to Stick and Tig weld on Tube & Pipe.
  • Must have 6010 pipe root experience
  • Must have 5+ years of experience welding on industrial size and grade tube and pipe. (Schedules: 40, 80, and 160)
  • Must have experience welding with multiple types of filler metals including but not limited to carbon steel alloys, stainless steel alloys, Inconel.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of various metals characteristic and qualities including the correct welding processes required and the effects of welding on the material.
  • Must successfully pass a weld test.
  • Must have all required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements
    • Most of the welding will be in tight areas, so candidate must be small in stature
    • Some welds will be accessed from a sky climber about 50' high from deck
  • Must have all the tools listed below on start date.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and other engineering drawings to perform efficiently.
  • Must be able to read and interrupt technical manuals as applicable.
  • Must be able to assist boilermakers in tube installation, preparation, and fabrication while not actively welding.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work at heights as required.
Preferred Additional Qualification
  • Current Zachry or Zachry ROF'ed employee.
  • Current Zachry Certification
  • Experience working as an Industrial Pipe Fitter/ Boiler Maker
Physical Requirements
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights and a sky climber, will climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)/FRC's including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.

Weld Test/Certification Required

ZII-014B Test, which is a 2.00" od x .344 thick carbon steel coupon. It requires a "tig" root and hot pass, a "Stick" fill and cap. The specimens are bent for test results.
