This is a role in the Mechanical Engineering organization at Chamberlain Group. This role is expected to lead the simulation of electro-mechanical platform assemblies and products using FEA and multibody dynamics (MBD) tools. This role will support NPD and cost reduction teams in making simulation-driven design decisions throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform non-linear FEA and Multibody Dynamics (MBD) analyses
  • Optimize designs using FEA results
  • Retrieve and modify Creo models of components and assemblies to support the creation of finite element models
  • Understand and explain the physical events behind the mathematical formulas
  • Selecting the appropriate software or analysis tools to approach the problem
  • Explain results calculated by the FEA software
  • Validate FEA models analytically and empirically
  • Interpret results, make recommendations, present to stakeholders, and write reports
  • Provide technical guidance on the most unusual or complex problems, and independently determine and develop approaches to solutions
  • Interface with R&D project teams and provide excellent customer service to achieve program key milestones and deliverables
  • Support company in continuous improvement activities
  • Automate simulation workflows using Python scripting
  • Validate material properties
  • Conduct peer reviews for the simulation of product designs
  • Develop internal standards and improve processes
  • Plan and pilot calculation discipline activities and related deliverables on project taking into account applicable instructions/processes and other specific Customer (internal or external) requirements
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group's reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or related Engineering field with job-related experience as defined above in the Essential Duties & Responsibilities section.
  • An advanced degree in directly applicable area of study may substitute for up to 2 years of experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification strongly preferred; or commitment to obtain certification within eighteen (18) months of date of hire or promotion
  • Minimum 7+ years of job-related experience as defined in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities with Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 5+ years of job-related experience as defined in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities with Masters degree or PhD in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, Computational Mechanics/Engineering or Physics

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ansys Mechanical FEA, LS-DYNA and Ansys Motion knowledge
  • Understanding of material/Regulatory standards and how they are applied (ASTM, AISI, SAE, UL, etc)
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams to create/analyze electro-mechanical products
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective communication skills

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Masters degree or PhD in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, Computational Mechanics/Engineering or Physics
  • 11+ years of job-related experience as defined in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience scripting with Python 3.10 or later
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Creo and Windchill software experience
  • Business acumen
