**What to Expect**

Primary Duties of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) New Parent Support Program (NPSP) Home Visitor will be to:

- Provide information and education on services and resources available. Refer parents to appropriate military and civilian agencies for assistance and support for: assessment of at-risk behaviors, enhancing the parents' role in parenting a newborn/child, role modeling and mentoring, and any medical concerns.
- Plan, develop, and implement programming designed to build and enhance strengths that individuals and families bring to the parenting role to enhance parent-child attachment.
- Develop and deliver parent education programs to foster skill development, aid in child abuse prevention, and promote good overall mental health.
- Conduct standardized screenings and assessments of families receiving services and collaborates with related agencies to offer appropriate and necessary services.
- Provide early intervention services to parents and families at-risk. Conduct ongoing risk assessment. Reports suspected abuse as required by policy and law. Collaborate with the family and appropriate agencies to develop methods to achieve prescribed goals and enhance successful parenting.
- Consult with local hospital professionals regarding aspects of abuse and identification of at-risk individuals and families.
- Attends and participates in the clinical case staff meeting as requested.
- Establish and maintain professional contacts to stay abreast of: research, education, training and clinical practice to enhance and maintain the NPSP.
- Maintain individual case records in accordance with prescribed regulations and ensures confidentiality and security of case information. Handle sensitive information that is proprietary, privileged, confidential or otherwise legally exempt from disclosure. Safeguard sensitive information and prevent unauthorized reading, printing, retaining, copying or dissemination of information, messages, or correspondence in accordance with rules and regulations such as those covered by the Privacy Act, 5 USC 552(a), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Public Law 104-191, and Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 6025.18. Notify the higher level supervisor and senders immediately when proprietary information has been released and advise on how to properly recover, and/or protect information.
- Market the NPSP through a variety of venues including but not limited to: articles in the installation newspaper, orientation briefings, trainings, creating brochures to provide information on the NPSP, and participation in special events such as Child Abuse Prevention Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
- Provide World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assist customers and communicate positively in a friendly manner. Take action to solve problems quickly. Alert the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adhere to safety regulations and standards. Promptly report any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adhere to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the Equal Employment Opportunity program and prevention of sexual harassment.
- Expected to travel to complete work assignments, primarily home visits, and conduct or attend training, conferences and meetings.
- May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours (to include weekends as necessary).
- Adhere to safety regulations and standards. Use required safety equipment, and observe safe work procedures. Promptly report any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
- May use alternate and approved platforms for delivery of services when unable to provide face-to-face homevisits due to unforeseen circumstances and events. Primary delivery method is homevists and face-to-face in-person in accordance with policy.
- This position is supervised by the FAP Manager, NPSP Manager, or a clinical supervisor.

- A Masters degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or an equivalent degree approved by a state regulatory board, and shall have a current, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice social work or marriage and family therapy or Licensed Professional Counselor, independently OR a registered nurse, or of higher credentialing, with at least a bachelor's degree in nursing and shall have a current unrestricted license in one of the states or U.S. territories.
