**Summary**
- **Meals on Wheels (MOW) Volunteer Coordinator Substitute**_

The “Super Sub” has the responsibility of seeing that meals in the home delivered program are delivered to the clients. The task is accomplished with volunteers using their own cars on pre-established routes to pick-up food from a central point and delivers the food to clients in their homes. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for establishing a route structure efficiently sized and geographically organized to deliver the food within the time frame during which the food can be held hot. Changes in the route structure are made in consultation with the Area Supervisors, Data Operations Manager and Program Director as needed The coordinator is also responsible for recruitment, enrollment and training of volunteers in their respective areas.
- **Seniors at Lunch (SAL) Site Manager Substitute**_

In the absence of the regularly assigned Site Manager, the “Super Sub” supervises all meal and social activities at the seniors at Lunch dining site, acting as Hostesses/Host for approximately 15-75 senior citizens daily. Has general responsibility to maintain a pleasant and harmonious atmosphere conducive to continued participation of the most withdrawn group of clients. Oversees the dining site organization, service of food, recreation activities, volunteer recruitment, nutrition education, donation deposits and record keeping.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- **Meals on Wheels (MOW) Volunteer Coordinator Substitute **_

Train new volunteers in the delivery procedures on the job, and acquaint new drivers with the route to which they are assigned. Schedule formal training for the new volunteers at periodic intervals, as needed.

Maintain a list of volunteers with proven reliability to serve as backup in case an unforeseen event causes a cancellation of the scheduled volunteer.

Make daily contact, as needed, with drivers scheduled for daily delivery.

Meet the volunteer drivers at the delivery point before the scheduled arrival of the truck. Verify that new drivers have route addresses and maps, as needed. Advise volunteers of any changes in procedures. When the truck arrives, verify that the volunteers receive the correct meals to correspond with their assigned routes. Encourage and motivate volunteers and support their needs.

Contact volunteers in “Outpost Areas” (not seen directly by coordinator) the day prior to their delivery to ensure reliability of the delivery system or, alternately, if there is an “Outpost area designated volunteer” (volunteer who will wait until all routes are picked up and then reports absences), that person will be contacted prior to the delivery date to insure reliability of the delivery system. Verify that new drivers have route addresses and maps as needed. Advise volunteers of any changes in procedures. When the truck arrives, verify that the volunteers receive the correct meals to correspond with their assigned routes.

Show volunteers appreciation for their work on a daily basis and by planning an annual volunteer appreciation event in April.

Encourage and motivate volunteers and support their needs.

Periodically, determines what type of training and review of volunteer procedures is needed and coordinates information with the other coordinators when a volunteer handbook or newsletter is being prepared.

Contacts the Meals Service Coordinator in the AM and PM to do the meal count for the route sheet counts and verify the meals.

Responds to “pages” between the hours of 8:00 Am to 5:00 PM, regardless of the work hours.

Assist in distributing other items than food (i.e. tray favors, birthday cakes and cards, etc.) to clients through volunteers, as needed.

Performs miscellaneous duties, as needed.
- **Seniors at Lunch (SAL) Site Manager Substitute**_

Supervises dining site volunteers involved in table set-up, meal service, social and clean-up activities.

Is responsible for verifying the meals ordered and the meals served on the Congregate Roster and reports the information to the office daily, prior to 1:00 PM

Responsible for a variety of other required reports pertaining to meal quality, nutrition education, the donation system and bus service if applicable.

Count daily cash donations with the assistance of (2) Volunteer Counting Clerks, prepare Meal Donations Receipt Voucher and enter information on Monthly Site Donation Report.

Bring deposit weekly to either bank of office, depending on location of site

Initiates or supervises recreational activities (i.e. bingo, music, speakers, exercise, games, parties, etc.).

Establishes rapport with clients to gain trust and enhance socialization. Provides clients with information and directs them to the Area Supervisor for assistance through referrals, etc
