Dean of Students staff serve students through programs, events, resources, and services built around student support, student involvement, and student conduct. Our services also include Student Governance Organizations. Dean of Students is one of eight departments in the Division of Student Affairs.

Student Activities, located in the Office of the Dean of Students, educates, supports, and advocates for all students to facilitate their growth and development through involvement in student organizations. Whether you want to start a new organization or maintain a pre-existing organization, the unit offers a number of services, resources, events, and trainings to help ensure organizations success. Student Activities also provides a number of opportunities for the campus community to learn about getting involved, including our student organization platform HornsLink, the UT Marketplace event, and Student Organization Fairs.

Purpose

The Assistant Director will serve as part of the Student Activities team and support the unit with sponsored student organizations, technology support, and policy implementation. Additionally, this position will oversee the indoor and outdoor space management systems and provide applicable resources for student organizations.

**Responsibilities**:
- Advise student organizations regarding organization management, program planning, interpretation and implementation of Institutional Rules, risk management and other leadership elements involved in advising organizations including indoor and outdoor event consultations.- Oversee, manage, and assist the student organization indoor and outdoor room reservation process including placing work orders and referrals to campus partners.- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of professional, paraprofessional, and student staff, including direct supervision of 1 Coordinator and 1 Student Development Specialist; oversee the efforts and supervision of the undergraduate student team “Dean’s Squad”; provide functional supervision to staff working on large-scale events.- Develop partnerships with colleges and departments that sponsor student organizations on campus. Create and implement a process to support sponsored student organizations and their advisors with resources, frequent updates, and relevant outreach throughout the year.- Conduct workshops, training sessions, and other education sessions for student organizations, advisors, and campus partners regarding institutional policies; review Institutional Rules related to student organizations and facility/space usage on campus.- Manage technology accounts and software systems used in the office which include Campus Labs/Anthology, Mazevo, Qualtrics, Tableau, Power BI, and Microsoft Office.- Under the direction of the Associate Director, collect data and assess Student Activities programs and events; collaborate with the department assessment and communication teams to share timely reports and information.- Assist in special assignments and committees on behalf of Student Activities with the Office of the Dean of Students, Division of Student Affairs, or other campus partners as requested. Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience developing, administering, and implementing programs for college students. Experience advising student groups, in student personnel or student services. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, administration, and external stakeholders. Professional demeanor. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including presentations, written correspondence, and reports. Attention to detail. _Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate._

Salary Range

$70,000 non-negotiable
