General Manager Position

New England Auctions is a mid-sized boutique auction company looking for a

general manager. This position offers great opportunities for growth and

promotion. Our company is looking for someone with excellent interpersonal

skills to deal with staff and clients. This position is suitable for those with at least

three years of management experience of a business with eight or more

employees. Some study or work experience in Art History and/or Antiques
- Management experience (absolute necessity).
- Must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to work under the pressure of

deadlines.
- Must be able to direct and manage a small team of employees and cataloguers

who create, edit, and complete monthly auction catalogs.
- Must have good listening skills, experience in HR and the ability to mitigate

conflicts and issues with employees.
- Must be able to build strong communication with staff, delegate tasks and

oversee their work on a daily basis.
- Must learn and navigate an online auction system database to input data and edit.
- Should have excellent writing skills.
- Requires being IT literate and confident navigating the computer for

communication and research.
- Must deal directly with consignors and buyers at various stages and have good

communication/customer service skills.
- Must learn the online auction platforms that work in tandem with live auctions.
