**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Literacy Educational Consultant will work with schools to analyze needs related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, alignment, and/or systems and strategies.

Provide Direct Support to Urban, Suburban and Rural School Districts:

- Conduct needs assessments to identify literacy strengths and weaknesses within school districts (e.g., teacher observations, student data analysis).
- Develop and recommend evidence-based literacy programs and instructional practices aligned with state standards and best practices.
- Facilitate professional development workshops and trainings for teachers, administrators, and staff on various literacy topics (e.g., phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary development).
- Coach and mentor teachers on implementing effective literacy strategies in their classrooms.
- Provide ongoing support and technical assistance to district leadership teams in developing and implementing literacy plans.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists and instructional coaches to ensure alignment between literacy programs and district curriculum.

Program Development and Implementation:

- Research and develop literacy resources and materials to support teachers and students in the CESA #1 region.
- Assist school districts in selecting and implementing high-quality literacy assessments.
- Analyze student data to monitor progress in literacy achievement and make data-driven recommendations.
- Stay up-to-date on current research and trends in literacy education and share information with district personnel.

Collaboration and Communication:

- Build and maintain positive relationships with school district administrators, teachers, and staff.
- Collaborate with other CESA #1 consultants to provide comprehensive support to schools.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and meetings.
- Advocate for the importance of literacy education within the CESA #1 region and the broader community.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Participate in grant writing and fundraising efforts to support literacy initiatives.
- Present at educational conferences or workshops on literacy topics.
- Stay informed on legislative issues related to literacy education

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Valid Wisconsin DPI license as a Reading Specialist
- Certification in Act 10 literacy curriculum, particularly LETRS, Keys to Beginning Reading, Top 10 Tools. AIM desired
- Elementary Literacy experience
- Experience using assessment data
- Experience coaching others required. Coaching certification or training desired
- Experience developing and delivering professional learning
- Agile, demonstrating a growth mindset by leveraging flexibility, resilience, and change
- Highly collaborative, working with others to achieve a common goal in a way that promotes representation and participation by all
- Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communicator who expresses ideas and information with clarity and respect aligned to an intended audience and purpose
- Thinks critically to analyze multiple perspectives, contexts, and data to creatively question, make connections, and evaluate options leading to reasonable conclusions with on-going reflection for future improvements

- Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to client schools
