**KITCHEN STAFF**:
The Well School is looking to hire an enthusiastic Kitchen Staff Member. The right person will be nurturing, energetic, creative, a team player, and will have a love for nature and supporting the whole child. The Kitchen Staff Member reports directly to the Director of the Community Kitchen. In collaboration with other Kitchen staff, this position is responsible for food preparation, cleaning, and food service to preschool through Grade 8 and staff. The Kitchen Staff Member will seek to model the school’s philosophy of education through instruction and example. The Kitchen Staff Member will take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, and will keep accurate records. This position will be for two days per week.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Report to work by 8:00 a.m and leave by 2:45 p.m. on work days.
- The kitchen staff performs a wide range of duties in the fast-moving kitchen; they are the utility people, often assisting with cooking and various aspects of meal preparation and delivery. Current job listings identify the following duties for kitchen staff:

- ** Basic Food Prep -**The kitchen staff organizes the kitchen to do food prep to streamline cooking and meal presentation, including washing, peeling, and cutting fruits and vegetables; mixing ingredients for dishes; and cutting and seasoning meats.
- ** Meal Presentation - **The kitchen staff organizes the food counter. They have a working knowledge of the day’s meals and menus.
- ** Stock Kitchen and Storeroom - **The kitchen staff works with Director to receive, stack, and properly store food in kitchens, cold storage, and storerooms. They transfer food and supplies to the kitchen as needed.
- ** Cleaning Duties - **The kitchen staff is responsible for ensuring all areas of the kitchen, food prep, and food storage areas are clean and properly sanitized. This includes washing dishes and cooking equipment, cleaning floors, sanitizing countertops and cutting boards, and maintaining all areas to health code standards.
- ** Kitchen Setup and Breakdown
- **If they are the first to arrive, the kitchen staff turns on the lights and grills, starts kitchen prep work, and prepares the kitchen and customer areas for service. When they’re the last to leave, the kitchen staff puts food and dishes away, cleans and mops the floors, and turns off all ovens, stoves, and other cooking equipment.
- Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect in relating to children, families, visitors, and coworkers
- Report safety and wellness incidents to maintain students’ personal safety and adhere to state laws
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment

**Qualification Requirements**:

- Prior experience working in kitchen preferred
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional and empathetic approach
- Detail-oriented
- High-energy and enthusiastic about children and working as a member of a team
- Must be able to participate in a physically active program
