**Summary**:
Under general supervision; plan, organize and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children assigned to a specific group. Using monthly themes assigned by the Director, teachers plan lessons to include activities that stimulate children’s physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual development.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Supervising Children individually and as a group.
- Provide care, guidance, and developmental experiences that meet appropriate educational and emotional needs of the children.
- All materials for the next week’s lessons are to be prepared by Friday each week.
- Prepare a one-week sub file complete with a daily lesson plan, materials, and directions to be used in the event of your absence.
- Preparation and clean up of planned activities. Work and materials are to be prepared beforehand for daily programs and clean-ups are required promptly.
- Provide Director with monthly classroom requisitions. Plan ahead and have requests for next month by the 15.
- Tidiness and organization of assigned classroom areas and shared responsibility of the play yard clean up.
- Shared responsibilities of preparation for scheduled meals (morning and afternoon snack, as well as lunch).
- Shared responsibilities of all general duties necessary for the well-being and safety of all the children and their environment.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, staff in-service training, parent meetings, and conferences.
- Provide a written, individual assessment for each child under your supervision twice a year, or as requested by the Director.
- Advise the Director of any item that requires repair or replacement and for any unsafe conditions as they arise.
- Using positive disciplinary action, assist children to correct misdirected behaviour. Children are to be treated with dignity and respect. Our goal is to correct the behavior without condemning the child.

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**:
Must have twelve (12) ECE semester units or equivalent (as documented in Title 22) and a minimum of six (6) months of experience with children in a child care center.

Must be able to meet the physical and psychological needs of children between the ages of two and six years old. Ability to conduct parent conferences is also needed.

Full range of motion is required for the health and safety of the children, lifting and carry up to 25 pounds, repetitive bending and stooping is essential to perform basic duties of this position.

Current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification is also required.

**Working Conditions**:
This is a fast paced and sometimes hectic environment with a wide diversity of situations requiring good interpersonal skills for resolution. Staff hours are determined by the Director to meet staffing requirements and may be changed, as business needs demand. Staff members may be assigned hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
