We are seeking an **Underwriting Assistant, Excess Casualty** located in New York Office. The underwriting assistant supports the underwriting function through customer service and processing while working with underwriters and other assistants to effectively manage workload and establish priorities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for reviewing submissions
- Prepare Underwriting Workbooks
- Assist underwriters with quote, binder, policy issuance & endorsement workflows
- Create, register, process and distribute binders, policies and endorsements within processing standards established by management
- Register bound premiums within 24 hours of binding
- Prepare all policies in accordance with final binders inclusive of review by underwriting staff
- Implement and maintain a field service reputation that is recognized as superior in the industry
- Review and analyze facultative reinsurance certificates as determined by management
- Properly label & file underwriting documentation
- Maintain file integrity by ensuring all necessary documents are filed
- Review and resolve premium discrepancies
- Work with accounting & follow up for overdue premiums, if necessary
- Provide backup to other Underwriting Assistants as necessary
- Assist in training/shadowing new hires

Qualifications include:

- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience as a technical/underwriting assistant with similar duties
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- Strong problem solving and decision-making ability
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Computer skills including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Adobe Acrobat
- Able to multi-task and communicate
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail

**Salary Range: $65,000- $100,000 **Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
