Newark Day Nursery and Children’s Center (NDNCC) is a nonprofit child care center that opened its doors in 1961. Serving children from infants through 14 years of age, our mission is to serve all children regardless of family income.

We are looking for a committed and approachable individual, who is highly efficient, knowledgeable of HR functions, with impressive character and skills.

**Responsibilities**
- Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
- Provide education on policies and procedures
- Recruit by preparing job descriptions, posting ads, and managing the hiring process
- Support and implement effective onboarding plans
- Manage staff files including new hire requirements (background checks and clearances etc.) according to internal, Office of Child Care Licensing, and legal requirements
- Develop training and development programs
- Assist in performance management processes for staff members
- Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues
- Manage the agency’s benefits administration, including tracking employee eligibility for benefit programs, enrolling employees as they achieve eligibility, and acting as employee liaison to benefit program personnel
- Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance
- Work with Admin Team members to create family events
- Support Admin Team members with duties as assigned
- Write monthly newsletters designed to educate families on issues pertinent to child rearing, healthy living, and community events
- Communicate with families in support of the Admin Team
- Other duties as assigned
- Oversee agency’s computer systems including administrative and classroom computing needs
- Manage agency databases including employee data system, client data system, and development/fundraising system
- Oversee agency website

**Requirements and skills**
- Experience as HR officer, administrator or other HR position, or willing to take courses to support learning
- BS/BA in business administration, or relevant field; further training will be a plus
- Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
- Understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus
- Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
- Strong ethics and reliability

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
