**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Summary/Objective**
Magellan International School, an independent International Baccalaureate PK-9 and growing school in Austin, Texas, has an opening for a full-time Director of Human Resources (DHR). The DHR is responsible for the overall administration of the Human Resources function at the school and reports to the Head of School.

**Essential Functions**
- Leads the onboarding/offboarding processes for new hires and persons leaving the school.
- Supervises the Payroll & Benefits Specialist in processing semi-monthly payroll.
- Serves as a company contact and expert in HRIS system (Paycor).
- Assists with compliance-related requirements including EEO-1 submission, ACA reporting, posting requirements, managing I-9 compliance, audits, etc.
- Manages and processes, in collaboration with the school’s visa sponsor and immigration attorney, all needed work visas (J-1s and H1-Bs) to recruit, maintain, and support Magellan’s diverse international workforce.
- Processes FMLA and Short Term Disability paperwork for applicable employee leaves in conjunction with Payroll & Benefits Specialist.
- Responds to unemployment claims from Texas Workforce Commission.
- Ensures the substitute list is maintained and updated by the Payroll & Benefits Specialist. Conducts training for new substitute teachers as needed.
- Manages the Benefit Open Enrollment process in collaboration with insurance brokers, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist, the Finance Director and Head of School.
- Serves as a contact for the school attorneys regarding employment and immigration issues.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
- Ensures compliance with 401k eligibility requirements.
- Reviews and edits the Employee Handbook on an annual basis. Recommends and drafts new policies and procedures when needed.
- Attends weekly meetings with Leadership.
- Coordinates mandated training during pre-service weeks in August before students return to school.

**Essential Functions As It Relates To**:
Faculty
- Works with Head of School, Heads of Section, and the Finance and Operations departments to ensure all school policies are being followed and are in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Meets with employees and Heads of Section as needed to resolve employee conflicts.

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university

**Salary and Benefits**

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for benefits, which currently include options for medical, dental, vision, supplemental insurance, a tuition discount for dependent children, and a 401K with company match.

The position provides generous time off benefits including five weeks during the school year (fall break, Thanksgiving break, winter break, and spring break) and two weeks to be taken during the summer break between school years. In addition, you will be granted 10 days (80 hours) of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year (August 1st through July 31st).

**Work Environment**

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.

**Position Type and Expected Hours of Work**

Core hours of this position are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, but will require some flexibility.

**Travel**

This position will not require out of area travel.
