**Job Summary**:
Under general direction, the Research-Assistant is responsible for a broad range of routine research duties, including working with mouse xenograft models and cell lines, perform techniques such as quantitative real-time PCR, western blot and histochemical analyses, flow cytometry, gene editing and various biochemical assays. This individual will also participate in ongoing research projects in breast cancer and tumor microenvironment, will collect, analyze and prepare reports on data generated by the project study team.
***Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Will manage day to day laboratory operations including but not limited to supervising students and laboratory personnel.
- Will assist in coordinating various experimental procedures/designs with collaborating investigators within and outside the Institution.
- Will be responsible for establishing/routine maintenance of various breast cancer and adipose tissue-derived cultures.
- Will assist in generation of xenografts from established breast cancer cell lines and human breast tumor tissues
- Assist in microarray/RNA sequence analysis/ gene knock-down experiments.
- Will work with the PI, Program Manager and Financial Director to manage the supplies and maintain record of chemicals and supply.
- Prepare and submit manuscripts on research data generated, at least one original research manuscript per year. Responsible for reviewing and editing research manuscripts per PI’s request.
***Other Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
**EDUCATION**:
- Regionally accredited Bachelor’s in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related field. Priority will be given to applicants with graduate degrees.
***EXPERIENCE**:
- Experience in breast cancer and health disparity research is an advantage.
***KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS**:
- Strong knowledge of research and laboratory research protocols.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency in advancing research.

**Compensation**:
- $22 hourly
**Position status**:
- Part Time (approximately 10 hours per week)
