**Job Description**:
The Center for International Education at Madison College is seeking a Study Abroad and Engagement Specialist. This position will deliver Study Abroad and Virtual Exchange advising and case management, as well as lead, develop, and coordinate campus-wide programming related to International Education. This position will focus on supporting diverse groups, including study abroad applicants, virtual exchange participants, international students, and historically underrepresented students in international education.

The Study Abroad and Engagement Specialist serves as a liaison to community partners and faculty, supports the unit’s strategic goals, and enhances student access, retention, and success. This position advises students on developing meaningful plans that utilize international experience to support their academic, career and life goals. The Study Abroad and Engagement Specialist also develops and facilitates campus-wide programming designed to advance cross-cultural understanding, cultural humility, global citizenship, diversity, equity and inclusion, student engagement, and leadership development. Additionally, the specialist serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) in compliance with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

This position reports to the Manager, Center for International Education.

This is a full-time, 52-weeks per year position, general working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Serves as lead for development and coordination of programming activities and corresponding promotional materials for the Center for International Education to promote cross-cultural understanding, cultural humility, global citizenship, diversity, equity, and inclusion, student engagement and leadership development. Develops and leads classroom presentations, workshops, and other events to promote understanding of international student services, education abroad opportunities, and intercultural engagement.
- Develops, oversees, and manages the Cultural Connect (student peer mentoring program) including planning and implementing a mentor orientation and training, attending activities, checking-in with mentors, and training and supervising Cultural Connect graduate intern/student workers.
- Develops and maintains resources, materials and forms for students and partners, including those maintained virtually or in databases. Guides development of marketing materials and resources for students (brochures, web content, flyers, resource guides, etc.). Organizes and presents at student recruitment fairs, faculty/student workshops, and other events. Develops online portal information to deliver virtual support.
- Advises students in complying with college requirements. Resolves questions or concerns on college policies, procedures, and interpretation as presented by students and faculty. Responds to student concerns and refer to appropriate resources. Assists with resolution.
- Develops and maintains up-to-date knowledge of study abroad, virtual exchange, and programming best practices and trends in international education. Establishes relationships with other college staff and professional organizations. Participates in professional development activities and professional organizations nationally and internationally. Travels internationally to support program development, evaluation, and execution.
