- The Providence Public School District (PPSD) serves approximately 22,000 students (about the seating capacity of Madison Square Garden) attending our 37 schools. PPSD employs more than 3,200 professionals who work in and provide support to our schools, which include 20 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 11 high schools, and 2 public district charter schools. Of our employees, about 2,000 are educators, and over 600 others directly support our schools' students and families.Our schools are diverse learning communities. Approximately 68% of our students are Latinx, 15% Black, 7% White, 4% Asian, 5.5% Multi-racial and 1% Native American. Approximately 40% of students are multilingual, and about 16% receive special education services. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Our students and families speak more than 55 languages and hail from 91 countries of origin.The Director of Instructional Technology will provide leadership and direction in the effective use of instructional and operational technology, technology services planning, organization, administration, and evaluation, as well as the integration of new and emerging technologies to increase efficiencies and productivity within the district. The Director of Instructional Technology will report to the Chief Academic Officer; however, the position will require close collaboration with the Data and Assessment and Informational Technologies Departments, specifically in infrastructure, student information systems, and other related software, and supervision of classified personnel.

**EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE**:
- B.A. (B.S.), a Master’s degree preferred**DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES**:
- Participate in a variety of planning and development activities, including district-wide committees, to create long
- and short-term plans-
- Perform administrative functions to enhance personnel productivity and achieve department objectives-
- Recommend policies, procedures, and/or actions to guide meeting the district’s goals and objectives-
- Research trends, products, equipment, tests, etc.,to recommend procedures and/or purchases-
- Collaborate on the revisions needed for and communicate the District Technology Plan-
- Assist school sites with the maintenance of web platforms-
- Identify training needs and facilitate staff development programs that enhance the district’s ability to install, support, and maintain all forms of instructional and information management technology-
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Professional Learning and facilitate staff development needs related to technology use in classrooms and offices throughout the district-
- Provide directions for district communication systems and student data systems-
- Collaborate on the district technology use policies and oversee compliance with regulations in selecting and deploying platforms-
- Attend meetings as required and attend and preside over such other meetings as the Chief Academic Officer designates-
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various groups, including teachers, students, administrators, co-workers, vendors, consultants, community members, and others as required-
- Demonstrate and model safe, prudent, and healthful work behaviors and practices; identify and work toward eliminating unsafe and unhealthful work areas-
- Collaborate with Transformation Officers and Principals to align instructional technology initiatives with school performance and student achievement goals-
- Visit school sites to observe technology integration, providing actionable feedback to enhance teaching and learning environments-
- Leverage data analytics to guide decision-making, evaluate technology integrations, and promote continuous improvement of instructional technologies-
- Demonstrated capability to engage in and manage difficult conversations effectively, fostering a culture of openness and problem resolution-
- Proficient in reporting on technology initiatives and challenges to both senior leadership and operational teams, ensuring clarity and alignment with district objectives-
